Any of the above are fantastic cars, however will have cooked their brakes and overheated their tyres mid-way around their first flying lap of the ring, if driven as hard as the Megane can take for lap after lap.
You'd also have finished your brew waiting for them to finish even if they did make it round unscathed.
The reality of progress, for sure!

Against a stopwatch round a track, a 1.5 three pot Fiesta ST would murder a Sierra Cosworth as a comparison.

What can be missing from a "modern driver" is the knowledge and ability to drive older cars safely, and get anything close to their best from them.

To answer any back seat/4 door related questions.

What a mad car, whats the betting these chassis improvements, and the removal of 4ws will come on the facelift of the regular car?
Presumably the cross beam just hasn't been integrated into the chassis as well as it would need to be structurally to allow the harnesses to be fixed to it? Would it not have been the obvious choice to position them otherwise?
Would also be more work (and more difficult) to get whatever type approval would be needed.

Existing seatbelt anchors are perfect, available, and require no additional work to certify for use.

The rounded 'seat' is where an extra set of (track) wheels° can be stored, now harnesses can be out of they way when using 3-point belt, less so when using the beam...

°Not many 2-seaters can bring those and have a empty boot left to fill with stuff...

car in its full road rage road racing form is mental..

but the price is even more mental

seriously, 50 / 60 k for a 2 seats 4 doors Mégane???
But made in tiny numbers, so it doesn't need to find many buyers. The only purpose of a car like this is to catch headlines and help to sell regular Meganes. The price is a bit of an irrelevance in reality.

plus also - is price the focus, or it is total cost of ownership?

Look at the values of the last two nutter Meganes - the R26.R is worth more than when it left the showroom, and the Trophy R has dropped 10-20% only dependent on spec years after it launched. No reason this won't do the same i can see.

Buy one of these magnificent things (maybe i'm biased, but i love this car soo much!) or buy an M4, and then add up which has cost you the most over 3-5 years - it'll be a massive difference.

Accounting for depreciation - i wouldn't be surprised if these cost as much to own as a diesel golf...

This. I mean I get that there isn't a 3 door shell but a 5 door with no point to the rear doors as it has no rear seats is pretty terrible.

It sounds like if you order the carbon fibre wheels they come strapped in the back from the factory so you essentially receive the two sets, standard and carbon, from the word go.

Where have you read this??

Its not surprising given the carbon wheels and brakes will be 30k plus... but yes it kinda highlights how good the Civic is.

You'd have thought popping the 300 bhp 1.8 into the Clio would have been the better bet... Add a widertrack etc... save the obscene costs of the wheels and brakes.

Still pleased manufacturers do this credit to them.

What is the ring time of a mass produced Type R?

The one that the Megane has ousted was a one off, with roll cage, missing rear seats / infotainment and had tyres that they aren’t contractually allowed to sell the car with.
In other words substantially modified and not for sale.......

Well it will probably go 4 minutes quicker than you in your Type R, even if you can finally afford the tyres.

Still no track days in sight I assume ?

When you buying your Trophy R then? Clown, 70 grand is 70 grand, apparently you’re not allowed to criticise anything anymore without some idiot making fun of a rational reason why he’s not taking his car to the Nurburgring. Grow up
