Very cool car, at a cost.
You could also get a base 3 door Leon Cupra for 25k new or so, and throw 30k of track mods at it, will be even faster but unless you use it, you'll never get anywhere near your money back come resale...
You could do that with many base cars but you not only not get your money back, it's likely you would get less than if it was standard. However- if you do any mileage in one of these it'll lose a big chunk, only tiny miles keep its value

I’d take the new A45s all day long
I very much doubt the people who are hoping to secure one of these would ever be in the market for a A45. Completely different target demographic. The A45 is exact polar opposite to this car as it throws more weight and more power to a problem that doesn't need resolving. Cars are fast enough as they are but invariably as they get faster and more powerful the driver becomes more detached from what is going on particularly in this segment. For proof just go and look at the A45 thread running right now. For many the perceived status of the badge, the high quality plastics and headline figures are all they really value. And lets be honest, the fact is that they are very effective road cars. They don't value handling and driving thrills as highly and they like the discreet looks
They really don't get how a car that's 100bhp less powerful can be preferred head to head or put 20 secs on it round the ring.
It does 0-60 in under 4 secs, it is therefore "faster"
Carting around 200kg all the time doesn't compute in their status obsessed world

But I also get (In an FK8 Civic Type R) lots of aggression from German uber hatch drivers which I'm cool with, but come the twisty bits , not so much. Point and squirt is their thing
I love that they did it, and I really like that stuff like this exists. It's like the oddball Jap stuff in the 90s.
For me there's one problem only: The same money will put you in a top spec Elise or a Cayman with options. Given this is a track car and almost certainly not a daily driver, Renault open it up to competition like the Elise and there's no scenario where between the two the Renault would get my money for a track toy.

So if you want to drive... it will cost either way Still probably one of the cheapest ways for the pace...However- if you do any mileage in one of these it'll lose a big chunk, only tiny miles keep its value
The Cupra isn't just a reference, the previous Megane RS was a known hero of the ring, but they are getting replaced in part by the Cupra or GTI Clubsports. I thus welcome this from Renault and hope to see them returning to form, for the sake of diversity and competition... Oddly very few Hondas there from what I've seen...

The “standard” Mégane Trophy and Civic Type R appear to be pretty much equal in most track times I’ve seen. Although no official times for either on Nurburgring.
The Megane must be gaining in the corners as it's slower in a straight line (as you would expect given inferior power to weight). Maybe the tyres are better?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4NnyKpHv4Q

Usually it's an Asian in his leased and written of A45/S3/RS3 in either white with black wheels or that dark blue and a private plate that's being ragged through Bradford. Same thought always comes into my mind - "God I hope you plant it into that lamp post". As Colin McRae said, "Straight roads are for fast cars, turns are for fast drivers".
Not Asians over here. Anyhow, nice quote from McRae, didn't hear it before and certainly applies to be, totally uninterested in straight line antics, not to say I'm a good driver, I'll leave that to others to judge. aaron_2000 said:

What would be impressive?
A Ford Escort Cosworth weighs 1275kg
A Nissan Sunny GTiR weighs 1225kg
A Peugeot 306 gti6 weights 1212kg
And they were from 20-30 yrs ago
1300kg from a road going hatch with 300bhp is very impressive.
Crash in one of the above at a reasonable pace and you'd wished you had the modern car I'd expectA Ford Escort Cosworth weighs 1275kg

Also Car Magazine and Evo both have the Escort Cosworth weighing 1418kg
I'd expect the 1275kg weight you have is from a dry driverless car
