As an i3 owner (94ah REX) I'm really disappointed that this has such low range. My new commute will now see me travel 115 miles a day up from 84. I could live with it if it had 200 real world but not 120 as I now what happens in the cold and rain to that range.

Guess I'll be holding onto the i3 untill the Polster comes in with it's cheap brother in 2021

Sounds good. Interesting that it seems BMW have added regen settings - not something the i3 has.

Frustrates me a little that articles like this quote the price of the car, say it costs more than a Cooper S, but don't mention the fact that for most people who have one and charge it at home it will cost a lot less to run.

Great stuff and likely to be the first affordable EV to appeal to people who value handling.

Why do people keep comparing it to the S? It's got a top speed of 93mph hehe
I think I will stick with the 146mph top speed of my Cooper S for a while yet then! biggrin

Lively, affordable, and would appear to retain all the fun driving characteristics of the MINI, with parts and backup from an established dealer network and infrastructure. I think it's brilliant.

A 93 mph top speed cannot in itself be considered a showstopper in the UK. It's not like an IC car with a 93 mph top speed that would wheeze its way to 60 in about 20 seconds, and struggle to get out of its own way. Given its 0-62 time, I suspect it has bags of performance at any legal speed in the UK.

Range could be better, but how many MINIs regularly do over 100 miles in a day?

Agree and I can't imagine many Mini drivers actually wanting to go more than 93mph in fairness. Although 93mph does seem incredibly low for a top speed of a modern car, but I guess that is the future now and I'm sure that all new cars in the UK will be limited to less than that eventually.

89% of all cars on motorways don't exceed 80 mph.

The % of cars that ever exceed 90 mph is..... 1.

93 mph is more than enough for the vast majority of people.

They're putting the tech they can in to a body of a car that wasnt designed for it.

The next gen MINI is when we'll see it all come together properly.

I think this is a great effort though and it will sell like hot cakes.
This sounds right. They're playing the game, if you will, with the cards they've been dealt.

Sometimes, if not most of the time, strategy must be pursued in increments. There is no disruption in this product, and nor could there be.

At the same time, all of us can see how the new frontier of BEVs creates opportunity for brands that have generally not been leaders. And the reverse may be true for brands that historically have been at the fore.
