RE: Range Rover Sport HST | Driven

I LOVE the interior colour. Rich, warm and inviting. I cannot stand black interiors. Absolutely dull; they remind me of the black vinyl in cheap cars of the 70s. I feel like committing suicide, each time I step into a black interior. So for me, black inside is naff, cheap and boring, and the dullest of dull. Isn't it amazing how we all have our biases to bear?
Talking of biases, I'd lose the black chav wheels, and get proper silver ones so you could actually distinguish wheel from tyre :-)
I wish JLR luck with this; it's good to see that the 6 cyl doesn't sound like a cement mixer; that's a big issue with the 4cyl engines. I still like the exterior; it's elegant in a way that the boxy predecessor wasn't, and the styling is not as badly overwrought as the German alternatives* - or indeed, Bentley's vomit comet. I'd rather have a (non-black) Velar though....

- Edit: The Cayenne isn't too bad these days, after the appalling submerged hippo that was the Mk1.....

I saw one of these yesterday in that red and black colour scheme.
It’s very nice in the metal and suits the car, the quietness if it as it drove past also surprised me.
A friend works for Thrifty and has delivered a few of them, he really likes them, quiet and quick is how he describes them.

Dude, this one has 400bhp and sounds great. That’s the draw of it.
Couldn't a diesel do 400bhp though? And probably offer similar/better economy, only without the complexity of a load of hybrid bits. If electric/hybrid makes things genuinely better for the environment, that's fine, but I am not convinced that mild hybrid does that. It just feels like a boxing ticking exercise to get around legislation.300bhp/ton said:

The Sport is looking so dated these days. Surely an all new model isn’t far off?

It looks like the interior of a particularly cheap new build show house. I don't disagree with your opinion of black, but you can do a lot better than primary red leather, metal and carbon fibre.
I'm not sure what sort of show house you have seen, but the ones I have seen have been particularly devoid of red leather!I like red. I like tan and light coloured leather. I've seen excellent examples of fudge (BMW 6 series) and dark chocolate (Merc SLK) leather. All are interesting, and lift the interior mood.
Okay, I'd prefer a slightly darker shade of red, but I'd take this interior every time over black. Every time.
Exterior looks spot-on to me. Agreed on the tart's boudoir interior though.
But this is PH, why are talking about what it looks like?!
Probably because that distracts us from the fact that more and new tech in a JLR product is a bad idea. For my use the £8k additional cost is probably worthwhile as I wouldn't be risking £1,600 DPFs twice a year. But what can go wrong in the new tech?!

Many PH people run an SUV alongside something more esoteric, myself included and have done for a few decades. Both car choices require decision making that doesn't always include logic.
Absolutely and I often see the more esoteric stuff being trailered by the SUV to track days, where you average anti-SUV green eyed PHer doesn't venture often it would seem.Jon_S_Rally said:

He's just there to listen to you rant and understand your frustrations when your brand new SUV develops a niggly fault after two days of ownership.
