Let me know how you get on please, I live chatted yesterday evening as was told that the sales team are off until Friday so will get a call back then.
Will do chap.

My local main dealer are there until 1pm today. I haven’t had a call yet to tell you the truth, I’ll wait till 12 and give them a buzz.

Had the call back from the deal, shock horror. Really nice guy.

£500 holding deposit which would give me the “first call” per se as soon as dates are confirmed. Absolutely refundable if I want to pull the plug.

Great news.

Now to decide what options you're going to have.

Uh huh! It would be a replacement daily, so I like the idea of another pan roof. Other than that I’m not particularly fussed - you can get a park pack but I can’t see the need personally, it’s not exactly large. Biggest problem is that I would lose an armrest, which seems trivial but I really like it.

That and colour choice. I like the Silver the current Up! GTI comes in but I worry that colour can get a bit ‘lost’ in rain and fog. Or is that just a silly way to look at it? Ha.

Surely you have to pick the most shouty colour? Silver/black/white are so common these days. I know they do a red one but not sure which other loud colours.

Mines in silver, ideally I wanted a red one, but my wife doesn’t like red cars for some reason....
I’ve got to be honest, I love it in silver now that I have it, it looks great in my opinion

I'll certainly be interested if it does indeed return to production next year. I needed a commuter car back in the middle 2017 and was holding out for the GTI amidst the rumours it's release was imminent. Unfortunately I could wait any longer as I was piling the miles on my weekend car so had to concede defeat and go for something a lot less interesting. I've recently been looking at the used exapmle , but they're all generally low spec with maybe Cruise & Park and Beats at most. None seem to have the City Brake pack which gave auto lights and wipers or the climate control, both of which would definitely getting ticked if I was buying new.

Good news that dealers are taking deposits. Re. options, my car has everything bar the parking pack (you really shouldn't need it!). Opinions seem mixed on the Beats audio upgrade, but it has impressed with the sort of music I listen to. The panoramic roof is pricey but it lightens up the interior nicely. I opted for climate control purely because I think it makes the dash look nicer, and the City Pack because it included auto lights and wipers. It's unclear what they'll do about this option because the autonomous braking feature that also came with it has been discontinued on the Up.

As for colour, was always going to be red for me, although at one point I did waver and nearly went for Pure White.

That's a great-looking car.

For the autonomous braking I wouldn't worry about the accompanying options - they'll issue a new firmware revision for the various control units that disable the autonomous braking, but leave everything else in.

I not overly fussed about the parking sensors, it's the cruise control that I'd be after. My missus had a 75ps Up! a while back and that was a great car, but on longer motorway journeys I was wishing it had cruise control. Aside from that, your car would be an ideal spec and it looks awesome in red.

Oh cool! Well, happy wife happy life.

The silver looks great and if that’s available, or a similar shade, I’ll go for it.

Do you mind if I ask how you’re finding it on fuel? I’m not buying it for high mpg, but if it’s reasonably efficient then it makes the whole package even sweeter.

You’ve just reeled off the entire colour options for the ‘last’ gen Up! GTI.
