The car on the stand at Geneva said 20.500€ on the info sheet. I do hope that doesn’t mean the GTI ends up costing £17k+ in the UK, because it would be too much IMO. andrewparker said:

Yes, had seen that and the discussion on the Up! Owners forum. Way too much if they try selling it at that. Will have to wait and see until Jan/Feb, I guess.Jonesy

I had two High ups, 75hp versions. They were a perfect occasional family car used mainly for the school run, but were fine on longer trips, including motorways. Full of character and great fun in town. I borrowed a TSi version and loved it. However, when I test drove a GTi I was disappointed. It just didn’t feel quick enough or special enough. That, combined with dreadful residuals and a lack of support from VW meant I moved away from the brand and into a bargain Fiat 124 Spider, which I will keep until its wheels fall off.Other half now has an Up! I’d go for a TSi over a GTi and get it remapped, though I’ve no doubt that owners love their GTis.

Only 5 gears in a TSi. Even the GiT Up! (inner 14y.o.) with 6 is somewhat busy at motorway-progressing pace I’d go for a TSi over a GTi and get it remapped, though I’ve no doubt that owners love their GTis.
The residuals on the GTI seem to have improved a lot. Looking at AT I could reasonably expect to sell mine for very little less than I bought it for, and I’ve had it for 13 months and 3800 miles. They really loosen up after a couple of thousand miles too. Mine feels far faster now than when I bought it.

I'm on 12,000 miles in 14 months and I have Cruise and Park pack only.
Air con, I'm fine with knobs not buttons. It heats and cools the air and I rarely fiddle with it, just set the temp on rotary knob and leave.
Pan roof, yes it looks lovely, didn't order it.
Height adjustment passenger seat - don't miss it.
Beats audio - the standard setup is really very good.
Emergency breaking-- hope I don't need this one day!
The basic spec is really really good with heated seats and door mirrors, and manual aircon and nice badges (although I've upgraded these) Bluetooth prep and phone clips onto dash brilliantly (and charges)
50mpg motorway, 65 mpg at 45mph on A roads and yes 35 mpg if you fling it around.
Tyres £80, tax £140
So cheap for the fun.
