RE: Ford Capri 2.8 | Spotted

By the way - are any users having issues with the Members area section?
When in the 'Current Fleet' section of my cars, if I try to click on either of the blue drop down arrows on:
My Account
My Stuff
Member Stuff
...nothing happens and the page just jumps up and down.
Now, I have tried this on both Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, and also on my work laptop as well as my MacBook It is not working on any browser on any device for me.
Just wondering if this might be a member profile issue for me or site-wide?

30k for a 2.8i they are living in a dream world, its about 15k over priced and the advert ... people are buying a car not a brick wall so take pictures of the car not silly little arty shots.
Its looks to be all the money for sure. But if you have an average driver quality one and want to refresh it you can easily be in to £10k plus very quickly, and that's doing it yourself without any labour costs or taking the cost of the car in to account.I guess the article meant to say 3.0 V6 rather than 2.0 V6. They did do a 2.0 V6 engine, someone I know had a Granada with one in, not personally seen one in a Capri though.

Dear me. There are plenty of pictures of the car. I think it's nice that they have put some effort into the pictures. Makes a change from the un-cropped, portrait Facebook screen shots you see in a lot of classified ads these days.Edited by stevemcs on Tuesday 16th July 07:38

The mk1 2.0 v4 was a real boat anchor-asthmatic,heavy and prone to head gasket failure. One of Fords poor engines. Replacing it with the 2.0 pinto improved the model massively.
One of my motoring regrets was not getting a mk1 3.0, when they regularly sold for £800.
Yeah, remember my dad saying that back in the day, he had a 1600 GT-XLR and said the 2.0 was not really any faster and not a very good engine, so they didnt sell that well, hence why they are so rare nowadays. One of my motoring regrets was not getting a mk1 3.0, when they regularly sold for £800.
Always seemed strange how they did all the different engine sizes with a base, and a GT version. 1300, 1300 GT, 1600, 1600 GT etc.

Ford did an Essex V4 engine in 2ltr and 1.7ltt.
Not sure if they ever went in the Capris though.
In the Corsairs .

Now they must be very very rare?
They seemed almost randomly to switch engines with facelifts and they eventually ended up back with the Pinto & 2,8 just like ours.

Am I right in saying there was a 3.1RS version? There was an orange one round the corner from us many moons ago.
In this shape there was a German edition 2.8 Turbo https://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1981-ford-capri-2-8-rs...

From July 1981 to September 1982, German RS dealers marketed a limited edition, Zakspeed inspired, left-hand drive only, ‘Werksturbo’ model capable of 220 km/h (137 mph). Based on the 3.0 S, this derivative featured widened Series X bodywork, front and rear ‘Ford Motorsport’ badged spoilers, deep 7.5j four-spoked RS alloy wheels and an RS badged engine.
The engine was based on a normally aspirated carburetor equipped 2.8-litre Cologne V6, Ford Granada (Europe) engine using electronic ignition, a tuftrided crankshaft, heavy duty head gaskets and oil pump, an oil cooler and a single Garrett T4 turbocharger providing 5.4 psi of boost, a limited slip differential, Bilstein dampers all around, an anti dive kit, uprated RS anti roll bars and single rear leaf springs, the engine put out 188 Hp at 5500rpm. Figures of around 200 produced examples are common, but numbered transmission tunnels possibly indicate 155 conversions were made.
Only 155 LHD 2.8 RS turbo Capri`s were built by Ford Cologne from July 1981 until September 1982 and they were only available through Ford´s German RS dealers.
Today they are very much sought after and a recently fully restored example like the one on offer today, is without doubt an opportunity not to be missed. Presented in olive green with the masculine flared wheel arches and black interior, it looks as good today as it did in the early 1980s when first manufactured. The car received a thorough restoration in 2016 by using only correct original Ford parts. It has resided in 2 single marque collections since 1999 and definitely is one of the very best available on the market. Coming with German paperwork, this rare collectors’ item is presented in superb condition.

It’s so weird that this has come up as I wanted to ask a question about one of these but couldn’t find the right thread and didn’t want to start one.
Do any of these ever have any engine conversions or can they be made to be very quick? There was a Ford Capri behind me, lowered one, looked mean and I’m not going to say it kept up but it was a lot faster than I expected on the straights. The advert claims 162 BHP but can they be made to be more? The one that was behind me definitely had more than 160 bhp
