Yup. The halo product allows for higher margins on the highest volume products. Via price and product association.
Fair enough. I thought the term was associated more simply with something that represented the 'brand' at its height. Happy to be corrected though. Wow, that's quite some specification there. Looks really good in that generic concepty hypercar kind of way, I particularly like the aero tunnel whatsits. I wouldn't have guessed it was a Lotus though, could have been anyfink.
There seems to be a plethora of hypercars out there now, I guess there must be enough super-rich buyers to warrant them all and justify production. They seem to be quite an efficient means of relieving rich chaps of their dosh, so we can get it recirculating back into the economy again. Hopefully they'll be some know how/tech trickle down to the lesser Lotus models in the range...

As gorgeous as it is, why £2M? Really daft expensive cars in the past have been that way because of the massive R&D required to get that out of an IC engine in a civilised way. 2000HP is around 1500kW which implies 375kW per corner. A 300kW (which could be custom built to 375kW) axial flux electric motor costs around £10K (e.g. EMRAX) and a drive is roughly £5K per motor (e.g. Sevcon). That's a grand total of around £60K for drivetrain using off the shelf parts with minor tweaks. So what are you getting for the other £1,940,000.00?! I'm not saying it should be £100K, maybe £500K, but £2M? Really?
I seem to remember from my time with an automotive manufacturer that the costs to get a set of headlights though homologation is around £1m on its own.kambites said:

If you're going to launch a car that's a big cock-waving, attention grabbing, fk-off-with-your-sensible statement piece, might as well do it like this.
I can't wait to see what comes next. And I say that as the beardy "why don't they make an affordable enthusiasts car?" type who says those things then buys a second hand car for a toy and has a miserable diesel daily who has consistently not put any money in Lotus' coffers for many years. - I do have a Lotus, but it's 30+ years old.

Yep that is the crazy number
My 675LT will stay with it to 100mph but then it dissappears!
That said where would you ever use that sort of sustained accleration!
well the 675lt is sub 3.0 sec to 60 just like the Evija but i suspect the Evija will be closer to 2.0 seconds were as the 675lt is 2.9My 675LT will stay with it to 100mph but then it dissappears!

"Official Rumors"
Geely plans to create a new Lotus SUV in their new China factory.
The first Lotus car to be phased out will be the Evora with a replacement planned and likely to be in the 150k region. (probably the esprit).
The Elise/Exige will likely get a volvo derived replacement engine until it is replaced eventually.
