I thought it could be an embassy plate at first, but as those tend to usually show up on DVLA/MOT checkers and this doesn't I'm guessing it isn't.

Hi,

Prior to DVLA "going live", a team of executives used to meet to think up inappropriate combinations of letters, specifically to avoid holders of driving licences being offended by their driver number. The first five characters of your driver number are the first five letters of your surname.
Where/when appropriate, an alfa will be replaced by a "9".

So how did Mr Penistone slip through the net?

One day I had tyo explain to SWMBO that a particular combination of three "alfas" followed by "69" would not be appropriate on a vehicle registration plate. She said her boss had forbidden her from issuing it ... but wouldn't tell her why.

CLIONT X on a generic black Mercedes.

Perhaps the owner was named after Cliont Eastwood.

K20 0 SHT, on, you guessed it, a Civic.

Overtook the car in front like a moron, too. Lots of rev limiter and wheelspin, and leaving about 2 feet of space from the car being overtaken.

There's a new-ish Civic which I often see near me which has a plate something like DD12 TYD and it's hacked to say D D12RTY D.

Older gent drives it.

Another "Boost" plate - BO05T XZ / BO05 TXZ - tinted & domed for extra bonus points.

Also deserves an award for the, looks completely pointless on a Fiesta, Focus RS rear end spoiler graft.
