RE: Volkswagen Up GTI | Spotted

MPG obviously depends on how you view the speed limit
But at a steady 70 you’ll likely see 55 ish.
I have a 20 mile commute on A roads and 1 junction of the M1 which is currently restricted to 50mph - and every night i see around 63 mpg on the way home - and part of that is thrashing round Milton Keynes roundabouts!

what are they like motorway mpg?
I was looking at the polo BlueGT which seems like it'll be more 'refined' on the motorway.
Which led me to look at the golf r-line tsi evo, however they're about 4-6k more than the polo.
By the time you’re looking at the TSI Evo Golfs, you’ll be looking at GTI’s and then you’ll consider the R I was looking at the polo BlueGT which seems like it'll be more 'refined' on the motorway.

I’d hope there’s been some real improvement too as I bought a lightly used one a few years back for a run around. Didn’t enjoy it at all. Steering was curiously light where it hardly self centred.
Had the fairly common (look it up) problem of warped brake discs fixed under warranty, presented itself again a couple of thousand miles later (I’m light on brakes) and I traded it in.
The stick on sat nav screen was ste too, best just to use phone, if that’s all they have now is a phone holder then probably for the best.

It's won these sort of awards many times during it's life, so it can't be too bad.

"Volkswagen is set to axe petrol versions of its up! city car, it has been confirmed. The switch to electric-only is motivated by forthcoming emissions regulations that will render petrol-powered versions of the up! too inefficient to pass."
“The big question mark is: if the legal system is pursuing and implementing the legal regulations they have just confirmed, there is not a single business case for the cars the size of the up! – it’s just not possible.”
Interesting stance for VW to take and I wonder what specific legislation is causing them to have no business case for petrol Ups anymore?

Why have VW ceased production?
Not profitable enough? Will focus on building electric versions instead etc.Augustus Windsock said:
I see my post was edited by one of the moderators for attempting humour by putting LGBT after WLTP.
Not sure how it could be offensive,,my daughter who is firmly ‘bi’ laughed at it, my step daughter and brother in law are all firmly gay and we are going to a gay (lesbian) wedding next weekend.
Getting a bit fed up with thought police to be honest.
Would the Mod have been offended if I’d put BLT and, unbeknown to me they were Jewish???
Anyway, I too had a lower power version on loan (albeit a Skoda) and concur with how much fun it was to drive
To me they are a ‘just’ car; just enough power, just enough roadholding and just big enough for most occasions.
I’ve not driven the GTi but I’m firmly in the camp of considering one as an ‘everyday’. Just let them drop a few more ££££ first...
Yes, insert some letters that are a fundamental part of a particular group's identity as some sort of a schoolboy joke about random letters on a particulate filter on a car. Look: does the LGBTQ community actually care about 'jokes' like this? I suspect not but your response to the moderator's edit is the definition of white cis male fragility. Accept it like an adult, and move the f(k on without making a big fuss.
Do I think the moderators needed to step in on the basis of your comment? No. Are you a prat who feels the need to defend his behaviour with the proverbial "but I have black friends" defence? Thats for you to decide
