It looks like that massive grille genuinely could be on the production version!
Oh it's real alright. A friend of mine works for BMW as a development engineer and he's as shocked as anyone. Apparently when some sketches of this thing appeared on the internet he and his colleagues assumed it was a little BMW joke - obviously the real one wouldn't look like that, because it looked so ridiculous. Imagine his surprise when it was unveiled at whichever motorshow recently...

We all know this is for China, the market taste forgot, but it looks like a Chinese rip off of a BMW. Surely someone with sense and authority at BMW must understand that the rest of the world doesn't want this hideous rubbish. Couldn't they make a version with a different front bumper?

Come on everyone, let's calm down. We can all agree that BMWs have been censored awful since the E46 M3 and E39 M5....
Come on mate, where do people find this drivel! I’ve driven my brothers E39 523i manual a few times, M5 it is not but it’s very tiresome to drive unless there are clear roads and you’re cruising. The clutch is extremely heavy and the throttle is a joke, slightest dab lunges the car forward whatever gear you’re in. I can’t imagine it being easy or simple with a 5.0 V8 under the bonnet.

The E39 M5 is probably a fantastic car, in the right conditions, the rest of the time, I don’t think I’d be able to hack driving it. Give me an F10 535d any time of the week.
It must be poorly set up then - my E39 530i has a beautifully calibrated throttle - I must admit when I went to buy it I was concerned that it would be a laggy mess like the E46 was reported to be with the fly by wire throttle. And the clutch isn't heavy. It's not the lightest, but anyone with some muscle mass in their leg would be able to manage it.

IMO the F10 is a better all round car than the E39. It's just that when the E39 came out it was so much better than the competition in many areas....the F10 isn't....but it's still a better car in just about every way than the E39.

I've heard that said - and you'd hope it would be the case given it's two generations on! When the time comes I expect an F10 will be my next car.
