Any news on any prosecutions here?

I know the Police have talked to the drivers involved, but have they actually charged them with anything yet?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-49095352

Just says they ve been interviewed and that was 2 days ago.

Would have thought by now someone would have been charged.

Will it be dangerous driving or driving without due care?

Dangerous Driving without a shadow of a doubt, it's way beyond careless.

Agreed, but the silence if deafening.

I would anticipate multiple charges contrary to section 1A of the Road Traffic Act 1988 - causing serious injury by dangerous driving. 5 years maximum per offence. Perhaps an alternative charge of dangerous driving too. 2 years maximum for that.

Very unlikely to be only simple dangerous driving / careless driving.

Charges will be issued a few months from now. 2 days later is the stuff of ITV dramas, not real world.

18 injured, four remain in hospital... But we don't know how bad they are.

Why do they (the CPS, I assume) do that - two charges ? Is it simply so that if the more serious one fails (hard to see how that could happen in this case), then at least they will succeed on the second charge ? Is it possible that there is uncertainty as to which of the two drivers caused the injuries ?

Caffieine and Machine have this at their exit:

Plus they promote "Don't be a Dick" they let everyone know that they have ANPR on the exit and that they will ban anyone who is being a dick.

It needs this sort of proactive approach, I think the problem with cruise meets is that there is not an apparent pro active approach to stopping people being dicks, more the opposite.

C&M have got it right. They have neighbours and have acted to try to ensure they have no cause for complaint.
Spot on approach there for c&m. They want a certain crowd and they will actively stop dicks, even from bothering to attend let alone act like a bell, so you could say job jobbed.

I saw an interview with the organizer of the cruise in the OP and he was saying how it was out of their control and can't control, which in light of the C&M above, sort of proved that as bks. In essence what he meant was we can't be arsed to police it that tight, with the now ill fated consequences, bound to happen eventually if you ride your luck enough.
Very different locations though, don’t you think?

Less kerbage, for a start.

Bloke I play tennis with nephew was one of the seriously inured ones, various broken bones but nothing life changing fortunately . There’s still a few bits of the Nisan left behind . The carpark the “meet” happened in now has a locked barrier and the police parked a van up on Thursday night as a deterrent .
All is Calm right now , but it won’t last forever, the youngster still have and love their cars.
And why shouldn’t they ?
The most worrying thing for me out of all this is how incredibly inept our Chief Inspector is , she just blatantly outright lies on TV and hopes no one will notice

Absolutely, but the area is still full of tools who would misbehave if not reminded and also policed. The only difference is that the tools have more money but toolism isn’t a working class disease, it’s a genetic illness passed down by the parents.

Good to hear no long term harm. But how are you connecting this person’s injuries that stem directly from personal life choices to being the fault of the police? Surely the only adults that are to blame are the injured’s parents who haven’t raised them with the same level of common sense as the 99% of other attendees who chose not to stand in the line of fire?

As young adults we’ve probably all been to events and gatherings where the health and safety executive were not on patrol and the only thing protecting us from serious injusry was ourselves, our common sense and the teachings of our parents.

Let’s be honest, you need to be monumentally thick to go and stand in the middle of a road being used by completely unqualified, random strangers as an urban hill climb section and not to appreciate the elevated risk and to understand that you are accepting this risk.

This sort of stuff is pretty common in more rural areas too.

On reading this I just kept on thinking how incredibly harsh you were being. But as I re-read your points, I was unable to disagree with any of them. I seem to remember it's already been said, but it put me in mind of spectators on Group B world rally stages some years ago.
