I like it, interior certainly looks better than the previous generations.
I imagine it will get significantly more interest in the uk now it can be bought in rhd form too.

Now is there a workaround? Which US state has the lowest sales tax and will you be able to order a RHD car from a US dealer and pick the car up preregistered from there before
Importing it here? ??
no US dealership will be able to order a RHD car

no US dealership will have any understanding of vehicle registration beyond Betty at the local department of motor vehicles five miles away

if you contact a US dealership about any of these topics, you will be transferred about and told conflicting things by different people; you will be told that you have a fine accent and that so-and-so has a cousin in Germany; you will be told that you don't sound the same as the guy who visited yesterday from Canada; you will lose the will to live

And then US cars won't have a certificate of conformity presumably and what about warranty.

conquest buyers

General Motors are deadly serious about pulling a respectable number of shoppers and buyers from traditional European marques. (that's not their only objective, but it is important)

The colour of the "signature car" at the launch event was no coincidence. Neither was the scheduling: 11:00pm on the East Coast of the US -- when people with money are likely to be asleep! -- but... mid-day on Friday in Beijing and Shanghai.

And while each of us here probably knows somebody who would snicker at the idea of cross-shopping a General Motors car with one from Maranello (I have in mind just now a particular English chap), those people are almost non-existent in some parts of the world.
Also not a coincidence that it was released in Orange County, California, the exotic/supercar capital of the US.

As good a styling job could be in moving a Corvette to mid-engine. But the red-neck in me (which can chafe) is lamenting the demise of the long bonnet, squat rear formula.

This could be the start of the Corvette winning a whole new market, at the expense of the old-school lot talking about the out-going model being the last of the 'proper' 'Vettes.

In the 1940's cheap US corvettes and liberty ships came to Britain when we had some problems with Europe.

70 years later .... biggrin

Joking aside this a double sensitive car. Colour and price wise. But no matter any doubts it is like looking at the menu and dreaming of what you are about to eat. Last years menu ;-

1. Leaf springs.
2. LHD
3. Front engined.

Got a bit of a roasting from the motoring Michelin chefs for not being as good as the Europeans even though good value for money.

This year

1. Coil springs
2. RHD
3. Mid Engined.

It's not going to be a Harvester surf and turf is it?

I sincerely hope this is the supercar equivalent of the Subaru Impreza from about 1999. Looking forward to the reviews. My hopes may well be dashed, but I hope not, one can dream smile

This is looking rather bad for the new TVR that has got stuck with politics in Wales unfortunately.

Looks like the gearbox is tremac's first dual clutch road car gearbox so it will be interesting to see what praise or condemnation it gets. I doubt it will be rubbish though given the company.

If it is doing sub 3s 0-60 with a 495bhp car, 305 tyre rear wheel drive and 1533kg then it cannot be slow I guess. That's similar to the rear engined lighter 991.2 GT3 with similar power.

in addition to sales of RHD units in the UK...

the C8 will go in RHD form to Australia, just as Mark Reuss said (although, at the time, he declined to say exactly which General Motors car this would be)

just yesterday... some clever journos Down Under rang up Holden dealerships asking to buy the C8; their article contains interesting nuggets... including the following gem:

"Many dealers were willing to take orders, despite not knowing the price. We were quoted prices from $170,000 to $280,000"

A couple of things from your consideration.

1. Pictures may not do it justice, much like the C7 at release. I should see one in person this week.
2. I really dislike the "enormous engine" comment it is large displacement not in size or mass. It actually one of the best engines in the world in power density. both hp/kg and hp/volume. The top of the valve cover is below the top of the rear tire.
3. GM uses a very conservative power measurement standard SAE J1349
4. GM has worked on mid-engine layouts for many years in the lab. This car seemed to be started 14 years ago. Delayed by the financial crisis and shifted to the more conservative but pretty awesome C7.
5. The New GM has a pretty talented chassis development team

I would look at pricing to be a couple thousand more than the last Corvette sold in UK. The C7 Stingray Z51 was at least announced in the UK.

Interesting but the new ‘Vette still has one of the ugliest behinds in the industry. To my eyes.

to each his / her own

of course, if that rear end is ugly, all the better to show it to one's "opponents" as it were wink

I dunno; maybe this car is colour sensitive

here's an informal video of Jay Leno, uploaded just moments ago; he makes a casual introduction of the car

ironically, he's indoors and drives away slowly and in utter silence, lol

I don't like the styling it seems a little awkward. The rear is to long presumably due to the large rear boot and the v8, the placing of the 3 quarter vents is awkward and the rear end styling is pretty awful. That being said though at 60k i think it is fantastic. The designers supposedly had an Evora for inspiration and it kind of shows in some of the design aspects. I do like that front end and i cannot imagine a car being quicker for under 100k

It doesn't really have any resemblance to a previous iteration of the corvette and looks more like a European car.
