The more I see of it the more it looks like a concept from Saleen or SSC or some other small firm that will never actually put it into production.

it looks so off in so many proportions.

The C7 is a great looking thing, this is a mess.
In your very humble opinion of course! smile

some Sunday reading on C8 design...

"Corvettes through the years have been influenced by European sports cars such as Jaguar and Ferrari"

"Influences of popular culture, military aircraft, past iterations, and the needs of racing teams who will run the C8.R are key."

After watching the test cars on the ring a few weeks ago I'm surprised it's taken so long for that to happen , they looked somewhat lively in the test drivers hands to say the least , especially down towards the bridge

$59,995
for the base car

$76,945
almost fully loaded

ETA: in the UK, the larger figure above may be of some interest because it represents the US domestic price for the specification that is traditionally delivered to the UK (ie: 3LT trim + Z51 performance package)

To the preceding figures add state and local sales tax as well vehicle registration (I suggest 7 percent and $100, respectively, as reasonable averages across the 50 US states).

Apparently the base car is a mere $3000 more than that of the outgoing model.

Crucially, what some may refer to as "poverty spec" in the base car is down only 5hp / 5 lb-ft on the maximum available output and includes an impressive level of kit such as:

eight-way power seats wrapped in leather
Brembo brakes
a proximity key (for keyless entry, exit, and operation)
dual-zone automatic climate control
rear parking sensors
a leather-wrapped steering wheel with power tilt and telescoping
12.0-inch digital instrument cluster
8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

Yep. I also note that Corvette have named their option packages 'LT' as well. Which I am sure is just a co-incidence...

General Motors has used LT and LS for decades as family designations for particular V8 engines. Same goes for the 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT trim levels. These have been and continue to be used in vehicles other than Corvette. So I don't see your point, sorry.

Additionally, the option codes for Corvette -- called RPO codes -- make extensive use of letter pairings. And these have, again, been similar from series to series in Corvette for decades.

See the RPO codes for the C7 Corvette, here:

If the C8 product adheres to tradition, there will be only one trim available in the UK, and this will be similar to the 3LT, fully-loaded package plus the Z51 performance package.

The pricing for that comination, in USD for the US domestic market, is in bold in a post above.

Nevertheless, if anybody wants to compare trim levels and optional packages like a domestic market shopper, the easiest way to do so is to scroll halfway down the following page:
https://www.chevrolet.com/upcoming-vehicles/2020-c...

See the heading that says, Corvette Stingray Trims.

sorry if redundant, but:

Have the UK dealership indicated when there might be confirmation of UK pricing and deliveries? How, if at all, are the dealer or OEM communicating with you?

Testers will explore the limits of lat grip and traction, and go beyond on occasions. I am not sure it will mean a particularly high rate of accidents compared to other mid engine cars.

RHD is great news. Will keep manufacturers with eyes on the UK market on their toes. Never thought I'd consider a new car, I'm slowly preparing for R8 V10 Spyder ownership circa 2014 model to buy for my 50th Jan 2021 but this beastie will require some investigation. I am strugggling a little with the impracticalities of the R8 which will probably dictate I only enjoy the experience for a year. Plan B of a 997.2 Turbo with PKD means I could hold on to it for an extra year or two due to the the extra flexiblity but they are holding their money too well ( I know this should work out come resell but none the less the I find the R8 relative value for money and as a dying breed may help residuals). Anyway more food for thought and the hunt is half the fun, until I'm sick of it lol.

Interesting that they've stuck with a relatively low-reving cross-plane 2-valve pushrod setup now engine height is less of a concern. Mind you I suppose 6500rpm is a respectable enough speed to generate peak power at.
