Do certain cars suit an age group?
Discussion
My stance is that it does not- and should not matter. However, there’s quite a number of old guys (yes, you 50+ thinning scalps with beginning leakage) driving around in trick Ford ST’s here in The Netherlands. This does mess with my mind and proves that everyone does categorize.
And come think of it: I (born 1982) got a lot of flack from friends and colleagues for speccing my 3 series like ‘an old man’ with tan (don’t remember what BMW named the color) leather and wood dash trim. Then again most of those sods drive around in family sized Pugs and such so fair play to them for taking the piss on me.
My next one will be old man spec too.
/Edited for fricken’ autocorrect errors.

Classic cars, over 50 (you now have the time)
I’m 4 years away from this milestone. A classic car is the genuinely the last thing I would buy, it’s more likely I’ll be on the hunt for an M2.
And let me know where all this spare time is coming from too!

I guess life circumstances probably play a part too as we're all pretty much on the same course from maybe passing our test in our late teens to early twenties to giving up driving perhaps 60 or 70 years later and the choice of car reflects where we are on that journey.
Spotty Yoof whose just passed his test will be spending every penny he earns on turning tyres and petrol into smoke and noise will morph into someone ten years older driving a Shed because the new mortgage is bleeding him white into somebody ten years older again stuck with three kids and needing a dreary people carrier. In another decade career progression and the Mrs going back to work will bring a bit of spare cash for something a bit more mid life crisis and desirable that cuts a modest dash in the office car park. Moving on another decade money really starts piling in when elderly parents kick the bucket and kids leave home so maybe it's time to sod the expense and treat yourself to the car you've always promised yourself. Fast forward another ten years and retirement looms and long holidays beckon and something smaller and reliable might be all you need to get to the bowls club and back for the last twenty years.

Anything expensive is usually >40 as they're the only ones able to afford to buy & run them...

If you need to pay for a big house, an expensive wife and a couple of kids in private, you may have less disposable cash than in your 20s...https://www.statista.com/statistics/369007/people-...
