The Actual “Poor Man’s Porsche”?
Discussion
I have a 986 and a 944, both regular running cars. I paid nearly 10 times for the 986 what I paid for the 944.
My pal paid quite a bit less for his 911 than I paid for my 986, but I reckon his 911 is now worth 8 times at least of what the 986 is worth. Which doesn't half make the 986 an expensive car.
I don't follow the cheese-on-toast analogy but I love cheese on toast. Those cheese toasties they do at The Revival are lovely, we always do bacon rolls the one morning for breakfast, cheese toasties the next.
Am I doing this right?

Have you been to the Porsche forum recently? If it’s not bickering about which options are best it’s bickering about potential engine failures, running up the mileage or stitching colour.
Bit of a catch 22 really, according to them they've the best driving cars in the world (GT4, Boxster Spyder) but scared of putting miles on it.Going back to the OP, someone who would go out of their way to say to a Boxster owner 'you've got a poor man's Porsche' has to be a tt so just needs ignoring.
I can't stand the poor man's Porsche rubbish when it's said in a derogatory way toward non 911 owners, I can accept the joke that a Porsche can make a man poor though as I've seen some receipts from Tech Nine and Hartech!!
The OP mentioned how he was thinking about his Porsche issue whilst eating "cheese toast" which we are trying to establish if it's a new kind of cheese fused bread

Haha, cheese toasties and cheese on toast are both outstanding food options but I think you may have missed the context. Am I doing this right?

The only time cheese and breakfast should combine is with last night's warmed up leftover pizza.
Nonsense I grew up with cheese on toast for breakfast...…. that was after I'd moved out of the Paddington Bear phase of marmalade sandwiches for breakfast. I'm now far more mature & don't bother with anything. talksthetorque said:

Although my form suggests someone will have said this before on the thread, Crumpets, buttered.
Grated strong cheddar on top.
Poached eggs on top of that.

WTF. Wow.Now let's just clear something up. A fair few comments about my use of the words 'cheese toast' in my OP as opposed to cheese on toast etc. Poor English on my part rather than toasted cheese flavoured bread - apologies. I should have probably written 'grilled cheese sandwich' rather than 'cheese toast'. Lesson learned. And yet people say Porsche owners are finicky

Now, back to the matter in hand, just what is the Poor Man’s Toast...
The 911 was an inherited format, as the 356 was a beetle with a two door body. The designers at Porsche did a great job of making the particular format perform (sometimes by putting lead behind the front bumpers) to the extent that they did.
The Boxster /Cayman was a clean sheet mid engine format, which generally gives cars great balance, and more or less even weight distribution. Even Porsche have transferred the transanxle to a position in front of the rear axle on some 911 based models.
This gave Porsche a bit of a marketing problem, as the mid engine format had the potential to be a better car than the 911 with all the weight hanging out the back. Going back to a 4 cylinder engine seemed top be a way for them to put some clear water between the 911 range and Boxster / Cayman range.
Some have stated that without the Boxster Cayman range being introduced, not forgetting the Cayenne/Macan/Panamera range the 911 range would now no longer exist (except when bought as used cars).as the 911 range on its own, was not enough to keep the Porsche brand going.
So whatever Porsche a person has they should just enjoy it as best they can, and ignore the jealous and insecure who need to take a dig at someone else's car choice to make themselves feel a little better about themselves.

It does & I'm off to Portugal in a few weeks, will have to seek one out.
Best one I had in Porto if you’re there. Tiny place on a little alley off the road down from the Sao bento station to the river. Full cringe points for me for announcing I found the amazing tiny place, but it was off tripadvisor. "VOLTARIA" - Petisqueira Portuguesa
Second night it was full so we had to eat at the larger place up the hill a bit.

Recommended indeed.
P.s. Extra points for the Super Bock. But it’s the Portugese wines you actually want to explore, some ace stuff in there.
