What a bloody epic machine. I love it. Finally something that isn’t badly contrived.

Anyone dismissing this evidently hasn't seen Neville's stunning original-engined XJ13 replica - a faithful recreation of the original in its pre-crash form down to every last detail. I've also been following what he's been up to with the new twin-cam 2-valve heads with great interest - some really skilled design, engineering and machining gone into it. This thing is absolutely stunning IMO and I can't wait to see it (or indeed your XJ13, Neville!) at full chat.

Sorry, (slurp)...can't speak for drooling........
I've seen the rebuilt XJ13 up close and actually talked with Norman Dewis about it.
I bet these will be a bargain price (ha ha!) and I agree with another comment here, that I bet we see a Jaguar BRG version!

A (the?) XJ13 turned up at my prep school near Rugby in the late 70s. However, researching it now, I'm not sure it could have been - has it ever been let out onto the public roads? On the other hand, I don't think there were any replicas by then, so it must have been the original

any thoughts?
It's certainly possible if not probable. smile The car is let loose on public roads quite a lot by the Heritage lot at Jag, although only for special events nowadays (think Coventry Motofest for example). They probably weren't as possessive over it shortly after it had been rebuilt.

It can’t of been the original one as it was badly damaged in 71, and was restored in the 90’s.
There were a fair few replicas by the 90s but the original was rebuilt by Abbey Panels in the early 70s, so it could have been the post crash original (but not the 'original' original iysiwim smile )

OK, so that makes sense! Ecurie Ecosse is NOT the name of the car at all but the name of the racing team/manufacturer that are creating it. The name of the car is 'LM69'.
Sounds less weird now. And in keeping with the team's history of racing C/D Types back in the day. smile

Bryan Wingfield built a small handful of replicas some time in the late 70s/early 80s, I think. IIRC he also had at least one of the original 4-cam engines. I think I remember reading a feature on it in the late Supercar Classics magazine.

Firstly, I wish the project every success.

Secondly, I hope Neville Swales and his design team come on this forum, a forum they have used to promote the LM69 project, to explain this video after 8 mins and 10 secs https://youtu.be/A568q0Ui7JA

In essence the video says that Jaguar has closed down XJ13 re-production and Neville requires a new product.

In other words, the What if is what if I could not make more product and have to come up with another idea.

Stand to be corrected and apologise to Neville if incorrect.

The way you’ve phrased this implies there’s something wrong with it? What needs explaining? Sounds like an interesting starting point for a project that requires not just a carbon copy but a reimagining inspired by the original, exactly what they’ve delivered.
