Don't know what year that photo with the Astra is but if that is Ian Poulter then it ain't 1981. He's 43, so would have been 5/6 in 1981!As for the second photograph, he has a 288GTO. My all time dream car. A man who puts his little balls in holes for a living... where did it all go wrong?

That unique factory black example has been owned for many years now by the same guy who recently purchased Jay Kays green La Ferrari also shown on this thread.
Wasn't there a second black S1 ?That unique factory black example has been owned for many years now by the same guy who recently purchased Jay Kays green La Ferrari also shown on this thread.
An RSOC registrar had it.....TF.
Prince Michael owned one for a while and then I think the RS1600i registrar had it
I've been involved in cycle racing for some decades and believe that many years ago Mick Jagger lent a Rolls Royce to the promoter of a road race as a lead car - just to give the event some additional class.
As race lead cars were, and are, obliged to display a roof mounted notice stating something along the lines of "CAUTION: Cycle Race In Progress," attached to the car's roof rack, (I've tried to include my own headboard notice atop one of my Volvos but the pesky thing won't upload). But would such a high-class motor be equipped with the old fashioned guttering to allow a roof rack to be secured to it?
Am I being overly simplistic in suggesting that such limousines would never have the need to have a roof rack fitted, so thus no need for roof rack fittings? Any comments please.

Saw an absolute belter yesterday.
The gentleman that owns this website turned up at a very pleasant gathering in Gloucestershire driving his brand spanking new (delivered on Saturday) Ferrari 488 Pista. It was sporting enough carbon fibre to have been able to buy 2 Ferraris - if one could live without the fibre. What a machine! Jesus wept. I drive a couple of bloody good cars but I felt utterly and totally inadequate stood alongside this thing. 0-130 in 6.5 seconds. And Maranello know exactly what you are doing, and where you are doing it, every second of every single day.
Mind blowing.

Ha ha! I couldn't remember what userid I'd used before. I guessed. It let me in ok. Th p/w I use will have been the same anyway. Alex is actually my son. He's getting into cars these days too. He was as blown away by that Pista as I was. What a machine!. Mind you, £5 grand for the toolkit. £15K for two teeny weeny carbon air vents towards the rear. There was about 9 million times more carbon scattered around the rest of the car so you can guess I probably coudn't afford it!
Cheers
BobG
PS I've just last week bought a very low mileage 916 Alfa GTV 3.0 as my runaround. It's not slow. But the Pista accelerates at more than twice that rate... By the time the Pista gets to 130 mph my nice 3 litre Alfa GTV will have just reached 60!
Cheers

Surprised that Marcos has not managed a mention as they were popular with celebs in the late sixties.
Famous owners include Rod Stewart (he had two - 1600 and 2500), both the Walker Brothers (John and Gary), Paul Jones (Manfred Mann), John Noakes (Blue Peter), Andy Fairweather-Lowe (Amen Corner), one of the Beach Boys (dunno which), Prince Albrecht of Lichtenstein, Sam Wanamaker (film director), Barry Crocker (aussie actor), Alan Hudson (Chelsea footballer) and surprisingly, Semon "Bunkie" Knudsen who was President of the Ford Motor Company.
In 1971, Rod Stewart traded in his Marcos 2500 for a Miura. Twiggy also had a Miura (see photo) which I believe was sold for GBP1.2 million in 2016.

...but seems to have redeemed his car credentials by having one of pretty much every iconic Ferrari made including both a fixed head and Aperta LaF.
He must have bought well as his lifetime earnings of $30m would struggle to buy the fleet at current market prices!

Yes, of course you're right. The Astra is an '81 - not the photo. He also had a Ford Fiasco with hideous wheels....

That Fiesta is a disgrace, yes, but we’ve all done things we regretted. Really good to see he’s now reformed and has made strong reparations with his subsequent purchases. Given his improved character since, I hope the PH community will have it in their hearts to forgive him that one moment of madness a long time ago. ...but seems to have redeemed his car credentials by having one of pretty much every iconic Ferrari made
