I think a remap would definately need to budget for an upgrade when it inevitably failsI've got a 290 st manual and yes i did need to replace my clutch after i put a revo stage two map on it. This is also pretty common on the golf r manual so i read on the forums. I have been using the car for some pretty spirited stuff so i was not surprised given the increase in power. Revo also unlocks the ability to press both brake and throttle so you can heal toe. It is well worth it though, as the car is amazing to drive across b roads but don't expect to be able to put all the power down off the lights, it's not that kind of drivetrain.

Good thing about this platform is that there are many parts available to improve on the platform, I suggest an enthusiast goes that way, buys a cheap 280/290 and adds some of those for far less than 38k or even 30k for that matter and end up with a much better car again. With the right bits (check my garage), no issue enjoying closer to 400hp with fwd, even in the wet (3rd gear), if you understand that that the right pedal isn't an on/off switch that works from standstill....

Odd, I heel/toe all the time, double-clutch even, without this safety feature disabled. Perhaps during winter with some tail happy action I miss the ability to left foot brake, but not really an issue on fwd, perhaps on this 4wd without a handbrake it would be felt more like an essential method to control weight transfer/yaw was missing... I've got said car at the moment again
Didn't really get to test it in Liverpool due to lots of traffic so had it for a few days doing my commute/driving in MK.
Got to say, its down on power compared to my previous MK3 Leon Cupra 280 (APR Stage 2 420ps FWD) but for a "stock" car, it goes bloody well etc. The carbon fibre touches such as spoiler and splitter are good and I love the colour.
Downside for me, after owning 2.0T hatchbacks for 11 years, I switched to 3.4NA and am now addicted to the sound, the stock Cupra R exhaust is far too quiet.
