Not this s**t again.
What heritage? The MK1 Celica Supra was a turd. The MK2 Celica Supra was much better but still not an outstanding car. The MK3 Supra was a big, HEAVY, GT, and wasn't really sporty. Some Japanese only models were sportier, but still not up there with the best.
The MK4 has become a legend, but it is still flawed. (and I own one).
Had Toyota developed the new car alone, it would have had a V6, which would have ruined the Supra heritage, as all the predecessors have had inline 6 engines, dating back to the 2000gt. Maybe one day Toyota will develop inline 6 engines again, but given the current climate, we're lucky to have got a 6 cylinder car at all.
your first sentence says "what heritage?" then in your last paragraph you say a toyota v6 would ruin the supra heritage...What heritage? The MK1 Celica Supra was a turd. i reckon a bmw inline 6 ruins the heritage than an actual toyota engine
Meanwhile Lichfield already have a more thorough round of upgrades in the offing:

The video hardly sells this one - certainly doesn't sound anything to write home about and being Akro, will likely cost half the price of the car to buy.
+1Came here for this, and I'm not disappointed.
I mean: along with others here on PH, I did feel that the rather refined state of tune, of the new Supra, was just begging for a good aftermarket exhaust. But the utter last place I'd go would be to those Slovenian craftsmen who, apparently, fashion their exhaust systems of 100 percent unobtanium.
I have literally laughed aloud when quoted a price for an Akrapovic system. Somebody needs to do a p*** take where the Akrapovic unit fully exceeds the value of the car. And by multiple amounts.

Nissan did that with the GTR. Every iteration of GTR had an amazing sounding straight 6 engine, culminating in the RB26 and its derivitives, which are among the nicest sounding turbocharged engines of all when modified. The V6 in the R35 is one of the worst sounding performance car engines I know of.

I'm still continuing to struggle to understand all the negativity towards the Supra.
I think it's a great looking car, and a refreshing RWD compact coupe/sports/gt.
The styling is similar enough to Toyota heritage, and includes cues from great cars from the likes of Ginetta, TVR, etc ...... it's a modern, reliable, safe and usable Sagaris, albeit with a few less chest hairs.
Whilst I'd love to be in the market for an Akrapovic exhaust that cost more than many car's I've owned in the past, I can't see that happening any time soon. I hope that we will start seeing more and more Supras on the road though, despite what badge/transmission snobs will keep posting all over the internet.
Seems we're in the minority on this one but I completely agree with you. I am happy this car exists and find the looks of it refreshing, in a world of vanilla cars this looks great. Whilst it doesn't suit my needs at the moment, this could be a great buy in a few years if they sell them in any sort of numbers!I think it's a great looking car, and a refreshing RWD compact coupe/sports/gt.

Not sure I'd want to draw more attention to a car which is so hard to look at. The front's such a mess.
Read my mind. The rear is very good IMO but someone tried way too hard on that front end. For me, the whole aesthetic just doesn't seem to 'add up' like the old Supra did.I'm sure it's great dynamically, the interior is quite tidy and it'll probably sound lush on an Akapovic exhaust......but.........yeah.

Akra really have made it haven't they? Outside the world of bikes, you wouldn't have heard of them a few years ago, but now they are in with several OEMs. Fair play to them. Pricey though thanks to their love of titanium.
Yeah, but now they are really just the TI version of OEM's exhausts. So all the bling, but gone are the days of any effort.MrGeoff said:

I remeber when lexus bought out the IS - and everyone says about the front of the car with the massive grill, personally I liked the design.
I think we have all just got so use to the vanilla looking bmw / audi etc look that this looks strange and makes people uncomfortable. I will never be able to afford the supra, but I would have it over most "sports / gt" cars.
One of these or the RCF or a mustang if my numbers came up.

These exhausts are designed for stupid people - you know the ones who like to make a lot of noise in the car park or when going down the high street.
Designed for the sort of people who would never take their car on a track or ever get close to its limit on a nice open roundabout - it’s a ‘look at me I’m a tt’ sort of exhaust.

I was hoping around for an aftermarket system for my 718S (before I chopped it in last month) and when I got the pricing for Akra I burst out laughing. It was one of those 'laughs of disbelief' crossed with 'someone just told you a joke' moments. Ha ha.
exactly !!It's almost as if you want to turn your head this way and that, asking, "Okay, where's the hidden camera?"

Between the edit cuts and pounding background music, I could barely hear the exhaust they're trying to sell.Just cut off a backbox, She'll be right.

Just watched that, very interesting and should be illuminating seeing how it copes with 1000 bhp, can’t see any reason why it won’t ?Pretty high spec, high tech engine and great to see it taken apart
I know there are mega power 2JZs out there but they aren’t exactly standard internally.
