They only do it to wind you up.

Shame it’s not electric
Why?

BMW is free to go and make a performance electric car, but what's wrong with M cars remaining petrol?

'Pure' only available for cash buyers too
But only if you go in dressed as tramp with the money in a plastic shopping bag, having been turned away from a Porsche and Merc dealer, you also have to promise to drive back to those dealers on collection of the car.

You can then become the subject of one of those "I knew a bloke who...." threads on PH.

You mean to say, return to the dealers that turned you away and do donuts in the forecourt hehe

An all electric M car with independent motors on each wheel would be an absolute monster. It’d be better vs a petrol version on just about every metric except top speed. The characteristics of a drivetrain like that are far more interesting than what you get just adding more and more power. Looking forward to a manufacturer actually embracing this.

It looks like nothing I've ever seen before, the only front end/grill combo that comes close is the Pontiac Solstice eek

Imagine being this affected by how people choose to spend their own money

It will be interesting to know what Alpina offer up for their next B3. M have been stealing something of a march on them for a while now

I've seen that grill on a new BMW SUV and yes, it's utterly hideous. They're going to lose an awful lot of customers if this grinning donkey look gets rolled out across their range!

I know, it's really bizarre.

I must be terrible because I bought my house with a mortgage and I have to pay it off monthly....I couldn't afford to buy it outright, clearly I need to hand my PH membership in!

I think the M division boss is just on a wind up; see how many temple veins he can get to explode amongst PH'ers.

Why not offer a Manual with AWD? That's my preferred option.

Then give it that button, like on the M5, to turn the AWD off.
If it was simple they'd do it - at very least that would be another set of WLTP tests which will be fantastically expensive.

Chances are it'd be another gearbox to develop and validate, all for something that virtually no-one would buy.

Not before he’s had a chat with the head of BMWFS to ensure maximum bellend triggering smile

It would be interesting, unless you like the foibles that come along with combustion-powered cars that only drive one axle.
