We were talking about EVs. The 330e is a hybrid.
The talk was of the end of ICE engines and as I explained it won't happen if anything the reasonable application of hybrids will endeavour that the ICE will still be in use for the short to mid term
Then you didnt explain it very well.

"ICE car sales will fall off a cliff , EVs wont ramp up that quickly"

Your response was

"The big step is happening though, BMW expecting 25% of all 3 series sales to be the 330e"

It'll look like a relic still soon.

Model 3 is outselling the 2,3,4 and 5 series combined in USA. BMW need that i4 out.

Wait have you forgotten that "It's a Hybrid" as you told me, you know with an engine - in other words I presumed you would understand that the big step of a move to Hybrids is already happening and that in itself will keep ICE going for a good while - think we can all agree the infrastructure isn't in place for everyone to switch over ASAP but a hybrid is do-able, especially if you have off road charging and more so work charging to go with.

We're at 3000 miles in the first month, 800+ miles have been done in e-drive.

It’s a great story but look at the ICE numbers in total. Not to mention the Model 3 is one ugly, boring vehicle. BMW probably make more cars a week than Tesla do yearly...and unlike Tesla are a proper car manufacturer and will be around in 5 years rofl

Model 3 is trashing the small/medium luxury segment in the USA. Apart form the Polestar 2 it wont even have competition until 2022.

Until we actually invent something ground breaking. A new fuel, new power train, new way of travelling. The EV is just marketing fluff.

is that an attempt at tongue in cheek humour ?

what do you think all those EV's out there are ? were transitioning... 10 years from now there will be very little IC engine cars on sale. Tesla was the disruptor. it can in and shook up the establishment, look at how well the Tesla 3 is doing.

a hybrid ? why ? damn that's the worst of both worlds. an engine and a battery pack.... weighty or what. and lugging that weight and fuel about screws range...

car companies are terrified absolutely terrified of electric cars, GM brought out the EV1 and then killed it, they saw the future and the future really didn't favour the car companies did it.

Like we have been mugged for years oil changes at a garage ? what was the profit margin on them, and all the other sundry items that went along with an IC engine. Going to an electric car ? what complication is there ? reliability will go up and we will no longer have visits back to the garage like we have now.

performance to kwh to £ ratios are going to improve, were going to see a significant change in cars. performance in Porsche and Ferrari terms being available to the average joe for a lot less than what those marques charged. the years of development and history will no longer matter. its all going to be in the electric motor, its going to be in tyres and how they can get the torque down and were going to see cars doing unbelievable acceleration compared to what we were used to 5 or 10 years ago.

So id say we have ground breaking right now we have a new fuel and a new way of transport.

yep the disruption will be huge.

Daimler already laying off 11,000+ people, Audi 9,500 etc

Teslas current revenue is around $25bn a year and a huge chunk of that is coming out of the German manufacturers pockets, because they dont have a viable alternative to sell.

These are companies that exist by predicting sales and revenue 10 years out.

Tesla shouldn’t worry about 10 year forecasts, they’ll be gone, along with their dreary car designs and hopelessly bolted together vehicles.

Last time you said that Tesla truck will outsell the F150 ... so I would call that bollax tbh.

Won’t have competition? Are you that stupid? If it didn’t have any competition then it would be the only option and 100% of the market, is it?

You say that but the 330e weighs less than the lightest Model 3 as far as I could see 1660kg plays 1726-1846kg (stripped the driver weight which is part of the EU measure)
