Below is another speculative (ie: not official from Ford) illustration of the Mustang SUV / crossover. The illustration in the post above is also speculative.
As an EV, it surely could be easier (easier than ICE) to produce in RHD for markets like the UK and Australia.

November will bring us a preview of this Mustang-inspired SUV.
At the Ford headquarters in Michigan, Ford has organised part of the company around what it calls iconic vehicles -- like Mustang and Bronco -- which have considerable emotional value among consumers as well as in popular culture, generally. From these "core" icons, a number of offshoots or line extensions will be produced (eg: the Mustang as a crossover, the Bronco as a pickup truck, etc.)

I get the Ford Bronco, it's not my cup of tea but if people want it and Ford do a good job on it I'm happy, it has heritage.
But hang on.....a Mustang SUV.....really....yes it looks nice, but it's just not the done thing, in fact it dilutes the Mustang heritage in my worthless opinion.
I drive my brothers 2016 5ltr Mustang and it's a lovely car, it has something special about it, but I just couldn't go for that SUV....Ford what are you playing at?

The people at Ford, having heard your concerns, would probably -- I'm simply guessing -- race to tell you that nothing changes with the Mustang GT and its performance car / GT car variants above and below.
The new group called Icons Group is not about diluting. It's simply an acknowledgement that some elements of style and some expectations of brand can be had, to a certain but limited extent, in another form factor.
In a way, it's kinda like the elements of 911 which appear on non-911 vehicles by Porsche.
This is not an easy task for a leviathan like Ford. Their natural inclination is to brand everything a Ford.
What we see now, however, is that consumers have elevated Mustang (and Bronco) significantly above the values imputed by the corporate parent. Consumers in effect _own_ the brand (and not Ford).
That is an important distinction.
Ford is following what customers say they like: what they like to experience, to express, and to share.
Based on the camouflaged prototype (displayed in a post above) that was photographed recently in public... Below is believed to be the most accurate rendering to date of this Mustang-inspired SUV / crossover. Still an unofficial depiction, mind.
To me it does indeed seem to adhere to what we see in that public appearance of the prototype. And I quite like it.
