One interesting point when considering a GTV is that you can get a Maserati 3200 for only a few grand more..... considering that the GTV won't be many people's daily driver, why not go the whole hog?
From personal experience I can say for definite the Maser is a whole lot faster (and fantastically terrifying) but does cost a fair whack in parts.

Had a twinny for about 5 years. Loved it. Only left us stranded once when the throttle cable snapped. It was silver with the cup body kit and teledials and looked the business. Not fast but as others have said it felt like it was and you drove everywhere at the ragged edge. When our first son came along we upgraded to the more “practical” GT.

x100000000000 to run. Friend paid good money for one 2 years ago. Hes actually had it on his drive for about 3 months. Ok most of it was the "specialists fault" and lack of diagnosis. New refurb engine £7.5k

Sensors
Cats
list goes on still not right and we think that the valve stem seals are gone in said engine.
Proper lemon IMO but this is a worst case, case. Not all going to be this bad but if they go wrong not cheap
I have had a twin spark for six years, done 24k miles with no major issues - cambelt, thermostat, radiator, wheel bearings, rear springs, brakes - nothing unusual. Treated some patches of surface rust underneath. Just got to decide if I'm going to keep it - it's due another cam belt. The boot opens itself regularly and very occasionally the engine cuts out - just bump it on the go and carry on.
Got a V6 in January last year. It's been off to Autolusso for the usual full rear end powerflex rebuild, new oil cooler and brakes all round. The same surface rust as the TS. Previous owners had done a decent amount of stuff - Q2, Koni adjustables, Alfaholics exhaust and handling kit - so I feel duty bound to keep it well.
I don't think I'll ever sell the V6. I love the way it looks, drives and sounds - nothing like it for the money.

I've had four of these over the years: one TS, and three V6s, one of which was a Cup. The second V6 I had was a low mileage minter. Fitted it with a Q2 diff, GTA flywheel and clutch and a straight-through Ragazzon exhaust. Oh my god, it was magnificent - and like an idiot I swapped it for a Boxster S, the engine of which went bang no long afterwards
I'd have another in a heartbeat if I didn't think the missus would string me up by my balls!
ETA: after she read this we had a conversation. My balls may well remain intact!
Oh, and on the Maserati, three words that will be a chilling grip to the heart of any 3200 owner: crank end float...
