Zenith of desirable supercars in the right environment where all that performance can be used ? T70 is 54 years old this year.
More class than any modern Bugatti , ,stunning race heritage , better looks and a wonderful noise. Having stood feet away from many T70s as they warm up , and on one occasion a few feet from a Chiron on launch , anybody with an ounce of petrol in their soul will go gooey about the Lola and go 'err, is that it ? ' about the Chiron . Christ , the Veyron was bad taste personified but Chiron has plunged to new depths of complete pointlessness . Unless you are a rich Middle East brat trying to pull girls in South Kensington ...

Ugly car built for only the most deplorable people to grace society.
Wouldn't mind a drive though.
So if you have wealth, you are deplorable?..... Some salt for that massive chip?Wouldn't mind a drive though.
Interesting a lot of the views formed on the car seem solely based on the fact of who could afford it, rather than the car itself being viewed as an object.
I was looking at a Chiron lately and admiring the detail of the thing. The owner was about and I just thought ‘lucky fella’ rather than having some jealous sad bitterness at the fact I could never own such an object or really have any sort of access to it and experience it.
It just seems odd on PH of all places that an exclusive hyper-GT car is viewed with such resentment. There’s only 10 of the things, is it not to be celebrated that such a thing is being created in the first place. But boo hoo it’s only for the mega rich, I can’t have one, burn them, it’s horrible.
But if gifted one, you’d be bloody over the moon and I have little doubt think it is incredible.

My old man had an EB110. Was the last one the factory produced, from what I can remember. Definitely not a car that anyone ever needs to "pay homage to". He was delighted when he managed to sell it on at cost...
Because of the difficulties facing the company or because he didn’t like the car?Leon R said:

Supercars were just better in the 80s / 90s...
Supercars from the 60s/70s are even better IMHO - wonder if that has anything to do with being an impressionable youth back then ?Because objectively if you compare a Testarossa to an 812 the 812 will come out on top in terms of performance, handling, build quality, reliability and will also be easier to drive and easier to live with.
better the modern ones may be in those terms you mention. But seeing as I can't afford any of them anyway things like build quality, reliability and even performance are pointless and don't affect my feelings for them. Maybe it's just due to the eras we each grow up in, or maybe its just that modern vehicles are becoming too good all round to actually have any character, and mostly due to safety or wind-tunnel evolution or whatever they look very similar, even supercars - that new Corvette Stingray looks very much like the new NSX and both highly resemble newer Ferraris, and I wouldn't put a poster of any of them on my wall. But I would put up a poster of an original Dodge Viper , F40 , 1990 911 Turbo , Testarossa etc..
Much like music, the 80s / early 90s were just the peak

I'm not interested until the cars got 2000bhp....
But what are you going to do with 2000hp ? This Centodieci is a lorry - apparently it weighs 1975kg kerb. But even with just 1577hp, that's still 798 hp/tonne. Could be lethal without driver aids to keep you in control (ie back off the power)

You can't deploy the silly, lardarsed horror's power on the road , but only on track . Where it wouldn't see which way most racing cars went .
Supercars don't seem to be driven fast on circuits. Only one Ferrari has set quicker laps than us although Dave Coyne was driving. But 1577hp does look impressive scribbled on the beer mat

I’d be over the moon also I could sell it for obscene money and buy something a little more
Less tat that you could drive further than 1/2 a mile before it needs a new everything replacing
I’d even throw in the free buggati sunglasses
the chirons service intervals and tyre changes aren't as bad as the veyrons.Less tat that you could drive further than 1/2 a mile before it needs a new everything replacing

Sorry if that is a positive comment on this very negative forum.
