I'll try these next I think. I managed to get in touch with our local PCSO who caught 7 people in an hour with the speed gun the other week. He did say he'd try and have a word with repeat offenders if I could provide details so I gave him the reg number but no update since. Because we're near the river and there's some parks around there's always people with prams, dogs, kids on bikes etc, and having spoken to a couple of neighbours they're all as sick of the general speeding issue as I am, so I'll see if i can get some support that way as well.
It’s probably a good thing that others are cheesed off too. If you can get them to complain to the powers that be as well it’ll be harder to ignore.

I had a similar issue recently with overly excessive speeding and a lad with a very loud popping exhaust which traumatized my dog and is still very wary of cars. I am all for a spirited drive but in the right place and right conditions but there is no excuse for 40+ in a housing estate its just reckless stupidity. If you have a local neighborhood facebook group video them on your phone and post up and shame them - it worked for me and the loud popping exhaust is now back to normal.

Do you then get speed restrictions implemented down the road, speed humps, width restrictions, an occasional copper with a speed gun, for just this one person?

I'd go the name and shame route. Record it, stick it on youtube, push it to the local press.

I live by a small supermarket which has the same problem on a quiet residential road, most drivers are respectful but a few, usually the typical modded low power contraption make a nuisance of themselves. I find taking a video camera to them conflictual but works well. The police are not interested anymore unless I say I am going over to have words and mention threatening, then they turn up.

Update: went to talk to the owner of the car. As expected, he was a complete throbber: "I don't go over the speed limit"- lie "it passed the mot"- with an advisory about a noisy exhaust "I'm getting baffles fitted"- whatever that means. Looks like we're stuck with a noisy neighbour for the foreseeable- unless the PH collective has any more advice for this situation?

So if someone was playing music at full bore next door at 3am you'd accept it?

So you're telling me you wouldn't feel exactly the same about some pillock doing twice the speed limit past a primary school every day?
Fiju's reply was brain dead, simples.

Nope.

1. Kids shouldn't be in the middle of the road.
2. If you hang about in the middle of the road you're going to get run over.
3. Cars don't drive on pavements.
And what about when someone crosses the road and misjudges the speed of the car? Or said car loses control at a high speed and ploughs into someone?.. Actually, you know what, it's fairly obvious you're either trolling, trying to get some kind of reaction, or you're actually the pr*ck in the integra. And going off your previous posts you probably need to hand your licence back to whichever cereal company sold you the packet.
Coupie, he has shown in several posts that he hasn't got much of an idea about anything, ignore him, he's a numpty.

Park a couple of sheds (maybe with the help of neighbours) in such a way that he has to slow down.

People fly down a local road where a friend lives as everyone parks on one side. Except when I visit, I purposely park on the wrong side since someone once decided to hoot at me for parking carefully and making him wait, just because I'm not Ace Ventura. \/

I had the experience yesterday in my Smart car (with almost no bonnet).

Pulling out of a side street (turning left).
Main street has cars parked on both sides of the road all the way up to the junction (nobody has heard of the 20 feet rule). The remaining lane can take a large Transit van (just).
Very limited visibility until bonnet is ahead of parked cars on my side of road.
Look up road in both directions and can only see about three to four car lengths. My car is now about a quarter across the lane through the parked cars.
All clear, so I start to pull out. I'm now committed to the move.
Car approaches from my right doing 20-30mph 30-40mph. I see the car at about five cars away.
I gun it and get out in front of it.
She wasn't happy smile

My thinking - not much that I could have done. Couldn't reverse, because as I moved forward, the car behind also moved forward.

[edit] I just drove it at 27 and it would have been more like 35 minimum that she was doing [/edit]

I used to go to a car meet at a small village called Ashby Folville in Leicester. It was full of car enthusiasts and bikes and everyone had a great time and wander around looking at all the different things. There was a massive cross-section of vehicles from wartime jeeps to Aston Martins, TVR’s etc. This happened for a few years until the local chav tossers in corsa’s bmw etc decided to come along. It lasted a year after that before it got banned. people racing up and down the village street at stupid speeds all put a stop to it. Thanks you s !!!
I used to enjoy that. Wasnt aware it was banned. Shame

Yup the chavs and tossers ruined it for everyone. It got a bit too big and started attracting the wrong crowd
