Audi must have let an interne loose on the design of the back because I can't beleive it was from the same designer. The styling looks like it it's from another model and ruins what could have been an epic car.

Specs for the US model say it's 130Kg heavier than the old car, not lighter.

Have to say I find the looks "challenging" to put it mildly. What do we think the price will be? I'm guessing £92K OTR...
New BMW 5 series (G30) somehow got much lighter too than the F10 according to BMW (-90 kg), while in reality it exactly didn't.

EU regulations is probably the real cause.
Before manufacturers were allowed to quote the very lightest spec, meaning that most cars irl where quite a bit heavier. Now they have to quote an average spec of what they actually sell (not sure how it is defined exactly). A good development.

2075kg sounds like what a C7 tends to weigh irl, including driver. The performance is another 50kg and probably most comparable to this new one.

RS sports suspension sounds interesting, similar tech to what McLaren has on the 720s

Well it certainly has the aggressive RS estate thing nailed and I thought the C7 was butch! Think a Nogaro blue or black car with black pack would look pretty awesome the chrome parts to the car in the pictures especially the rear dont work imo. This is easily a £100k car with options now tho undoubtedly it will go like a scalded cat...interesting that they used the front end from the A7.

It's nothing new - B7 RS4 was first to use this concept (albeit I'm sure it's been modified since then).

Difference is the Audi system still uses traditional ARBs whereas the maclaren system uses hydraulics as a substitute.

Thanks for clarifying, also available on the B8 I recall now, didn't do miracles for handling there either. The 720s is probably still on a wholly different level then...

Watched the carfection video. I think it looks sensational. Catchpole seemed a little underwhelmed to be honest.

Anyway, I was disappointed that nearly everything on the car they showed was ‘optional’. Speccing this will get very expensive quick.

If this was a review of a bodykit from our dear friend Kahn, it'd be panned to high heaven and rightly so. It's atrocious, especially the rear end.

The interior is far better and it's a joy to see one with colour in it.

I normally love a fast Audi but this is, in no specific order: over designed, ugly and even more ‘council’ than most Mercs.

I'm not sure the seat colour does it for me - I'd be going for black.

Other than that, the biggest problem with the RS6 for me is the sheer size of it. I'd have an RS4 in Audi Sport trim (black badging and seats). smile

Why don't Audi make RS saloons or coupés with this spec?

Estate cars look boring to these eyes. Dull and uninspiring, and the preserve of grandads regardless of what's under the bonnet.

It looked more understated than these RS6 images

Must admit that I really like this, despite my natural reaction to this type of uber wagon is to question their relevance or ability to performance any role as well as it could:

Too big and heavy to be genuinely engaging as a sports saloon/wagon

Too still and sports focussed to be the ultimate in continent crushing transport

No tow bar capability, so not able to be the ultimate in track day / race toy tow car

Too capable to be deployed to any useful degree on the public road ..... the world is too small and over regulated with cameras

I'm guessing that anyone who buys one of these will also have a stable of toys to go with it, so isn't buying it to perform as a swiss army knife that can be used for all situations and conditions. The savage running costs will be insignificant in their world of expenditure
