It’s the same sneaky bd mobile cameras that catch the idiots who think that driving at 60 mph plus through the 30 mph limit in our village is absolutely fine. Happy for their sneakiness to continue....
It probably is fine. Just people like yourselves have been brainwashed to think it isn’t fine to fit it in with the “speed kills” agenda so they can bang a mobile camera there and make some money.PHuzzy said:

No, but it does equal fault claim free driver, which is a pretty good start.
Yeah and thats great until someone hits your parked car and doesn't leave a note, must mean you're a worse driver than those who are oblivious to what's happening around them and cause other people to take avoiding action due to their piss poor manoeuvres.Reg Local was mentioned somewhere back on Pg.3. you can pick up his excellent books on Amazon for very little money relative to the advice provided. He's got a YouTube channel as well. Go have a look. It sounds like you're just a new driver, having new driver worries.
I'd have thought that generally, concentrating on your observation (look ahead and learn to read the road) and thinking a little less about the actual speed would be helpful. As previous poster's have replied, there's no need to get anxious to the point of avoiding driving, just be aware of red ringed limits and stay within them!

You sound like you’d be an incredibly nervous and hesitant driving, especially if you refuse to drive somewhere due to having speed cameras on the route. I suggest a strong dose of man up and get on with it or surrender your license.
I’m 27, will have been on the road 11years in January. Covering on average 20k a year (the past two years have been more like 40k) and I’ve been caught once, by a mobile camera. I wouldn’t say I’m a overly fast driver, but do like to make progress where safe and possible..unless you are massively unobservant you’ll be fine. Get on with it chap, before your mrs makes you carry her handbag.
I am not hesitant atall when driving, in all honesty I have been told I am an excellent driver by many people. I would out drive you any day of the week to be fair.I’m 27, will have been on the road 11years in January. I’ve been nabbed by a mobile camera. 34 in a 30.... gripped my st at the time, but I went to the course and did what was required. I’ve not been brainwashed in the slightest. The 30mph limit in our village is there for a reason. The speed at which some people drive through beggars belief. I would also suggest that a child has a better chance of surviving an impact with a car that is travelling at 30mph, as opposed to twice that?
Simply put, the mobile camera wouldn’t make any money if people stuck to the 30 mph limit when driving through the village.

Why was it acceptable for you to drive at 34mph through someone else’s village though?I’ve not been brainwashed in the slightest. The 30mph limit in our village is there for a reason. I think if people are driving at double the speed limit through your village, then the speed limit is wrong. Possibly one that’s been gradually reduced due to dumbing down over the years?

I didn’t say it was acceptable.... it wasn’t in a village, but that is beside the point.I think if people are driving at double the speed limit through your village, then the speed limit is wrong. Possibly one that’s been gradually reduced due to dumbing down over the years?
You appear to have your own agenda - you have no knowledge of the area in which I live yet claim that the speed limit is wrong. You are welcome to see for yourself, but I suspect you would be selfishly driving too fast too notice.
Let’s leave it there, shall we.

As a rule, people don’t drive at double the speed limit unless the posted limit has been set too low. People drive to the conditions. You appear to have your own agenda - you have no knowledge of the area in which I live yet claim that the speed limit is wrong. Consider some CBT therapy (I mean that constructively)
Not being very good on acronyms I had to Google that. I hope you didn't mean the one I found in The Urban Dictionary! I was wondering if the suggestion was that OP should pass his moped test, and therefore not be able to exceed 29mph!

We agree on that.... but there is also a significant minority who treat roads as their own private race track. I suspect we may well be on the same page in regard to certain points concerning the needless reduction of speed limits (60-50mph) on derestricted roads, camera placings and (in some cases) cynical revenue generation. Having said that, a few idiots getting their collars felt belting through a village (minor B road, infant school etc etc) does not cause me any issues at all.
