I get confused with lights on the dash board...
My service is due tomorrow. I'm going to do it either Saturday or next week depending on the weather.
My MOT is on Saturday. The dashboard has a message saying due in one day. I'm going to assume it will then say overdue.
Will this be a problem?
Service lights are of no interest to us.My service is due tomorrow. I'm going to do it either Saturday or next week depending on the weather.

Thanks to for all the helps managed to get a practice mot in first thing before the examiner arrived which set me up right. I ended up passing with 3 minor faults.
Really happy with it and get to start testing next week and a nice pay rise to go with it too.
Well done Chris, all of us would get 3 minors if we were tested I reckon! Now comes the learning bit, do not get sloppy, don't try to hard, find that balance and don't let anybody sway your decisions, it is your licence and you have worked hard for it, I know more than one boss that would push and reason if the st hit the fan it was ok if you got points because you 'just' work there...Really happy with it and get to start testing next week and a nice pay rise to go with it too.
Welcome to testing! This: http://mtaeta.info/thread/1/welcome-mot-testers-ae... is your next port of call

What's the jobs market like for an MOT tester? Is there sufficient demand that a qualified tester that can cope with showing up when expected is guaranteed work, or is getting qualified only half way to getting you a job?
Difficult question, it is much harder to get a licence now and to keep it with yearly exams etc etc so good testers should be wanted and needed, however changes in rules and equipment mean that local garages that have tested for years are throwing the towel in so openings are fewer. MG CHRIS said:

I think it varies between regions but in the North West there seems to be a real shortage of experienced testers. I would employ one tomorrow. I've dipped in and out this thread so haven't seen every question but do testers look at previous advisories before testing?
I ask as I have always used the same garage and something that was an advisory last year isn't this year yet I haven't sorted it yet.
I believe alot of the MOT Is the opinion of the tester so can understand why, but just curious if checking the prior advisories is something that happens?

I do. I don't use it as a crib sheet but it is handy to see the mileage increase and to note previous advisories, to be honest some of them are petty at best and I don't advise it if I think it is. It is also nice to see the work has been done, sign of a decent owner.I ask as I have always used the same garage and something that was an advisory last year isn't this year yet I haven't sorted it yet.

For ours, if its the same tester then you are likely to get the same results, however one will advise just about everything (if they mot your car and there are no advisories then its in very good condition) the other is straight down the middle and the final tester will only advise if he feels it needs mentioning, however they would all come to the same conclusion with regards to pass/fail.I ask as I have always used the same garage and something that was an advisory last year isn't this year yet I haven't sorted it yet.

Congrats Chris, as above, be yourself, our 3 testers are all different, but they are all consistent. Ours hate it when the owners follow them around...don't be put off, ignore them or tell them to naff off.
Thanks tbf we are a commercial dealership so majority just drop the van in and do something else rather than hang around the ones that do will be looking at the new vehicles in the showroom. Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
