I should probably add that I was working there when the car was designed, built and put into the press - they were my images and I shot all 4 cars that were built at the time (one prototype, one coupe, one blue ragtop and one silver).
I'm not sure what information about the deals is public so I won't say too much on that, but even from his own IG you can see there is a degree of 'smoke and mirrors' with cars being resprayed/colour-changed in PS etc. The only deal I know of to sell a car initially fell through (it was a silver ragtop), though I havent seen the car appear online anywhere since so maybe it has since. The last image I saw of the car did appear to be in his lockup though...I wouldn't take everything you read online as being gospel and certainly financially, the project itself was not profitable to anyone but AML as they were very costly to build. Obviously it did gain some PR for Kahn though, which is difficult to put a price on!
Edit - I'm also not convinced that car is the prototype unless it has had extensive work done since. The prototype only had dual exhausts, a much smaller ducktail spoiler and a different wheel finish. That said it does have the red pin-striping inside which wasn't on the others.
Interesting, thanks. I certainly don't believe everything I read online It seemed pretty clear that the reason the car was doing the press rounds a while back was because the sales weren't happening. The "Kahn myth" up to then seemed to be that they had no need to advertise...I'm not sure what information about the deals is public so I won't say too much on that, but even from his own IG you can see there is a degree of 'smoke and mirrors' with cars being resprayed/colour-changed in PS etc. The only deal I know of to sell a car initially fell through (it was a silver ragtop), though I havent seen the car appear online anywhere since so maybe it has since. But there are probably 30 to 40 Aston collectors who want one of everything....so you are almost guaranteed to be able to sell these.
You say that, but I don't think Kahn sold either of the Vengeance cars that were built...Filibuster said:

Retrofitted lead for either a phone or satnav would be my guess, satnav more likely with the shape of the connector and it's position in the car? What's going on atop the dash, passenger side in this pic?

Kahn is just tacky st built for the top dogs in the heroin game, care has actually gone into this one, and I'd imagine his name also carries some weight with it too.
Subjective obviously, but I think most people's distaste with the designs is to do with their opinion of the man himself rather than the actual aesthetics of the car. In that particular market, I'd say certainly the more recent designs are definitely more tasteful than anything made by Overfinch or their other competitors. In fact most of the design lads who were there when I was now hold jobs for OE companies, most of them JLR SVO. They are very, very good at what they do. As above, its a reflection of the market itself. Most modern AML cars are anything but subtle.

My distaste of the designs isn't of him, it's of his distasteful designs. I find Overfinch tacky too, the L322's they did were pretty nice though. I find cars on the whole are overstyled and tacky.
Ill pass thanks!
This was at the Bicester Sunday Scramble this morning....love the original Vanquish and really didn’t think this worked. Was standing looking at and discussing it it with a friend (neither of us thought it was anything like what is effectively a £700k car) and then realised Ian Callum was standing next to us!
