I'm not surprised these are so cheap now. Who in their right mind would go for that?
Anyone interested in 0-60 times certainly wouldn’t, but that’s missing the point completely!

I remember reading the reviews when these came out and thinking they sounded like loads of fun for not much money - especially compared to the R56 Mini Cooper Mrs Tidy bought in December 2006 (mind you a third of it's cost was options)!

I just didn't realise they were so cheap now. I really don't need one, but it's just so tempting. laugh

I get the code on mine - I replaced an o2 sensor, made no difference. It pops up occasionally, then I just clear it with a cheap OBD reader. Car runs great. I really fancy a Simota filter, make it sound that bit better.
Got a Simota filter on mine, easy to fit and sounds amazing, can’t fall off to be honest. Highly recommend it 👍👍 pm me if you want any videos or anything like that.

How are these on reliability? and what's the sound system like? I've always been interested in these since they came out, this and the mk2.

Reliability, it's a Suzuki. Stuff will wear out but probably won't break.

The stereo isn't great and the speakers aren't amazing either. But you can buy a facia to fit a double din unit of your choosing in there.

The stripes add just that little bit of cheek. It would be amusing to give this car an ironic name.

Could be fun on B roads.

Perfect as a first car or that second or third motor -- for getting round town or the shops.

My mrs has a white Swift Sport and she absolutely loves it. Its a rare car, its been with us for 18 months and we've yet to see another one in white. Her one and only complaint is the lack of 6th gear.

I have one for sale if you want to buy it? I fitted it to my girlfriends sport but she didn't really like the noise, its done about 500 miles and I have the official cleaning kit for it too. (it sounds immense)
Sounds good, how much you looking for? (sorry not sure how to PM?)

Anyone stick an aftermarket exhaust on these?

I was looking at a Milltek when I had mine.
My OH's Mk2 has a Ragazzon rear box and a Remus straight-through centre pipe if that counts? It sounds 'throaty'.

There is a black one of these in a dusty looking local car dealers it’s been there for months priced at £1200, the place looks like a scrap yard that sells cars.

I used to have MK2 Sport it was the best car I’ve owned, still miss blasting around in it, Suzuki lost its way with the Mk3 Sport they don’t drive as good and its lacking in the looks department.

I’d have another MK2 in a heartbeat.

Yep, I test drove the new one last year with the turbo'd engine. Didn't like it and bought a 2014 plate as a replacement for the shopping car.

4k miles later, all is well - It did ask for an oil service in Jan and the main dealer reported a bit of corrosion on the plugs and sent me a delightful little video of the coil towers warning of a potential misfire issue in the future. This hasn't raised it's head though.

It's a great town car and fun enough to take out for an early morning run to give it a damn good thrashing and clear it's pipes smile

Probably someone who only has about £1200 to spend.

The swift sport mk1 and mk2 are so underrated (yes i have a mk2) sick of hearing not fast enough not enough power etc. I say it on many swift threads they are a hoot.

My 66 plate is my daily and used from thrashing around the back lanes to 300 mile trips to sisters (the 6th gear in mk2 helps).

still have fond memories of the day i picked mine up smile
Couldn't agree more. I had a 2016 Mk2 NA model from new. Now have a 2018 Mk3 turbo model.

Two of the best handling cars I've ever owned. I drove the Mk2 for 2 years, and have now been driving the Mk3 for just over a year. Contrary to what some reviews say, I feel that the Mk3 is the better handling car. I drive my cars hard on occasion. I immediately noticed the extra grip and agility in the Mk3 once it was run in from new. A year later, I find the handling to be utterly fantastic. The high speed cornering ability / composure in the car is a step up on the Mk2.

Personally, I think the Mk1 likely feels more raw than the Mk2, and the Mk2 definitely feels more raw than the Mk3. But for me, that doesn't necessarily mean it is a better car. In my opinion the older cars are easier to have fun in. They are tuned to have fun at low speeds, which means anyone can enjoy the handling in the car. The Mk2 is considered 'less fun' because the handling envelope was moved higher for that generation. The same thing happened for the Mk3. Although fortunately, the handling 'envelope' has not been moved so high that you cannot get the car to 'dance' at reasonable speeds. As mentioned, I've been driving the Mk3 for a year now and have a very good understanding of it's abilities. In my opinion - Suzuki have done a very good job of the chassis tuning. It is just about comfortable enough to be an every day car, but when you're in the mood, you can cover a twisty back road at devastating pace.

Which brings me onto the performance of the Mk3. It is a lot quicker than people imagine. Anyone who thinks the Mk1 or Mk2 are a bit lacking on the straights. Try the Mk3. The turbo torque gives this light car plenty of urge. Especially with TM99 in the tank.

Fantastic cars IMO.

I've owned both cars. The Mk2 for 2 years / 21k miles. The Mk3 (which I still have) for 1 year / 11k miles.

The Mk2 is a great car. But anyone test driving a Mk3 is not enough time. After owning the Mk3 for a year - I can positively say it is the better car all-round. 1-up with TM99 in the tank - it is a rapid little machine. Agility is beyond the Mk2. Grip is beyond the Mk2. High speed cornering / composure is beyond the Mk2.

There's a couple of videos on YT whereby Rent4Ring took their brand new turbo Swift Sport onto the Nurburgring prior to developing them for rental use. Even in stock form - they were very fast.

3rd, 4th and 5th are strong gears in the turbo Sport. Being that the car is very lightweight (975 kg), even with a tiny turbo 1.4... it pulls like a train.

The Boosterjet turbo Swift Sport is an awesome car in my opinion. More people need to try it - but try it properly.

What tyres do you use? Need a front pair for MOT in November, it's got continentals on now but they are very expensive. Cheers.
On my SSS I have Hankook Ventus(?) following a recommendation from my tyre lady. Much better than my former Continentals, good all round and grip / wear well.

I have a set of winter 16" steelies so can't comment on cold weather performance.

I've always really liked the look of these. I'm just not sure I could quite bring myself to trade in my mk7 Fiesta ST for one. I keep thinking that I should have owned a Swift first, before I was spoiled by an abundance of mid-range grunt...
I have driven a swift sport and on a mk7 st. Always pick the st, although mine is modified to 230bhp, the swift just feels like its falling to bits, its dog slow and understeers like mad compared to the st, also even above 4k revs it doesent really go very far. The only benefit to me is it sounds awesome above 4k revs, the st even with an exhaust just sounds st in comparison.

Finally some balance of sense. I have 3 cars, none of them deemed extraordinairy, not a single one would claim such constant praise, but all are better than that. You'd be the slowest car at Bedford Autodrome last time I went, some very rich equipment there.
