Everyone disagreeing with not displaying a front plate, please carry on displaying one and move on. Probably on to Mumsnet. Be the sheep. Do as you're told. Leave the people with the capacity to make a decision to their own devices. It's personal preference. Understand that.
And. carry. on. adding. full. stops. after. Every. Word.

Because we care what you think......
What do you drive? ( a vw/Audi/van?)
Do enlighten us.

No front number plate: tiny wins for people with nothing better in their lives. Especially where there is a giant rectangular area left where the plate should be.

Ideal way of spotting a though.
You've not been paying attention, have you?

Surely if one would want to dabble in ‘other’ criminal activity (assuming a type of criminal activity is having no front plate... lol..) then your vehicle would be best being completely road legal to the eye, thus going under the radar of the BiB...
If you had the slightest bit of common sense, yes, of course it would.

And if your loved one was hit by a motorbike, or by a car whilst holidaying in many parts of the USA?
Both of which are not legally required to display front plates, so yes identifying the vehicle and driver could be an problematic, you are of course correct.

So please explain, how does this in any way support your point, which appears to be that cars not displaying front number plates, despite it being a legal requirement, is perfectly fine?

I really don’t get the obsession with messing around with number plates. Private plates, mis-spaced plates, removed plates, smoked plates, it’s all pathetic. They’re a legal requirement, not a fashion statement. Use the reg the car came with in the legal format and stop being an attention seeking moron.

Seriously, why the need to personalise such a thing? Is your life that empty and your desire for someone to look at you that strong? Get a grip.

And to the inevitable chav tts who will be along with the “the world would be a dull place if everyone did everything the same” argument, my rebuttal remains the same. It’s. A. Number plate. Grow up.
Straight over to the 'Crappy Plates ' thread for you, Robberto
You could get done for manslaughter by sending him over there.!
You mean the thread that should be merged with the council thread over in the lounge? No thanks, I’m trying to unwind before bed rofl

It’s not a personal preference, you are required by law to display a front number plate when using your car on the road.

Why do you think that this doesn’t apply to you?

I like a good private number plate it’s my car I have the disposable income if I didn’t buy the odd plate I would be in double figures wise of car ownership . Not sure why people get so upset on this subject ...? Regarding missing front plates just daft looks odd even better when the factory holders still there . My personal gripe is the throbbers who modify there diesel st boxes so they make that really cool diesel waste gate noise !!!!

I don’t give a fk, I just pity you rofl

And I didn’t mention the legality of a plate as the reason I think they’re pathetic, I merely pointed out the desperation that must drive people to have to personalise something that is a legally required identifier for a vehicle.

You seem a little delicate.

A previous post you made gives examples of vehicles not required to run front plates, as if in some way to legitimise people not running them. Prior to that there was the get a grip post, both of which suggest that you believe there’s is not particular issue with not running a front plate.

However, apologies if I’ve misunderstood.

I think you’re mixing me up with someone else - only vehicle I’ve pointed out was my 4C.
And if you can be bothered to go back that far and read my post properly you’ll see what I did.

My ‘get a grip’ post wasn’t that I don’t think having no front plate is acceptable, it was about all the indignation on the thread about one slight illegal misdemeanour, when just about everyone commenting have, at some point, driven illegally or done something illegal.
In the grand scheme of things, in the UK right now, everyone getting off their tits about some missing front bits of plastic is, frankly, laughable.
Get a grip, people!

We’ll just disagree then. I see a difference between straying a few miles per hour over the speed limit and consciously deciding to remove a number plate.

The Alfa Giulia is an average 4 door saloon. No plate to look good? Seriously?

To a point I’d agree.

Locally to me is a chap who regularly changes his cars - normally an Audi S / RS.
Every one he has is devoid of the front plate, or it’s on his dash board.
Thing is, all his cars are Barried to some degree - illegal tints all round (which really pisses me off!), rear plates in that smoked tinted style, his RS7 (I think) with the rear spoiler permanently up...list goes on.

But today, trundling through my little village observing the 30 limit (in fact going slower) and generally being very courteous, was a Caterham and an Atom.
Pretty sure the Atom didn’t have a front plate, and I’m pretty sure the fairly ‘mature’ driver wasn't a Chav.
