Front number plate deleters - are you one?

13 pages...the simple fact is that you are required to run a front numberplate in the U.K, motorcycles apart.
It shouldn’t be considered optional, but the current low level of fine and the fact that it is non endorsable hardly discourages the practice.
Do I care? Not particularly, but I am surprised the authorities do not take more of an interest in light of ANPR use etc.
The current low level of fine and non endorsable status probably indicates it's not a big deal.It shouldn’t be considered optional, but the current low level of fine and the fact that it is non endorsable hardly discourages the practice.

I can see why someone would remove the plate because they believe it would make the car look better. I don't have any cars that would apply to.
I can also see why people would do it to avoid excess speed detection. The problem with speed enforcement in this country is that it has become arbitrary due to automation and the aporoach adopted by safety partnerships often lacks credibility.
It has long been the case that when a law isn't respected people won't obey it. There's a whiff of hypocrisy in this thread. How would those so excited by missing plates feel about having their speed automatically tracked and recorded at all times? Even if it was the law and we know that millions speed undetected every day.
Speed (combined with other factors) can kill people. I don't think a missing front plate can. This is why the topic is a storm in a teacup. It seems to push the buttons of a certain type - those that would have reported neighbours for missing tax discs or start threads about why convertible drivers don't lower the roof when the sun is shining or those that don't park very well. I think the expression is "get a life".

Sarcasm is having the highest post count on this thread mostly containing argumentative comments about what other people think and do.
If you don't like being answered, I suggest you stop being someone who constantly tells every one else what to do and post something positive instead for once.
It’s a simple question, for all of you little funny folk who moan about people without number plates. The Police, don’t seem to mind, in my life experience anyway. If you don't like being answered, I suggest you stop being someone who constantly tells every one else what to do and post something positive instead for once.
Have you ever actually started a thread about anything, can’t seem to find anything?
Basically. Mind your own business

If you don't like people point out the truth - tough luck.

I haven't complained about number plates, I am just pointing out what a contradiction you are, when you act the fool.

It's not a contradiction when a view is never changing. Mine, in respect of this subject is, mind your own business, and, from the post a few above...get a life. Every number plate thread brings out these weirdos, I am sure some were rejected from the Police on the grounds of being too zealous If you don't like people point out the truth - tough luck.

Guilty your honour, running a GT3RS, not putting a front plate on it.
Porsche drivers are exempt. Why are you not using the same derogatory language that we can normally expect from you?

To me it paints an extremely negative view of the driver. At best it's tasteless and at worst it marks someone out as a troublemaker - a problem.
Yes, another poor driver sign. Along with chav-plates, badly modified, England flags, mirror sunglasses and, oh yes, a fair percentage of Range Rover drivers.tvrash said:
Wow, 14 pages of sanctimonious nonsense. If someone else not having a front number plates get your knickers in such a knot I suggest you get a hobby.
A PHer posed a question, fellow PHers are responding, just like any other thread. Some continue for more than 14 pages, some last for less than one. No matter. I would expect nothing more from a discussion forum. Opinions for and against, some simple some extreme. The insults usually start flying around at a dozen or so pages. 'Troll' , 'go to Mumsnet' etc. (other put downs are available), all because some disagree with the proposal and are are unsuccessful in stating and persuading with their views.
That is life on PH, and the site is all the better for it.

People calling others council types and criminals for the heinous crime of not having a front number plate, it's too funny. I usually stick to the TVR section with good reason.
