No doubt this has been discussed before, but no doubt so have most topics.

So, I found myself in a ford dealership this week and had a sit in a Ford Edge. I expected it to be a big comfy American cruiser. Well quite the opposite and despite being electric and having lumbar, I couldn’t get comfortable at all.

A friend also told me they had gone to buy a vrs and had to walk away as they just couldn’t get comfortable.

So what car, post 2010 have you found uncomfortable and could gel with?

In before everyone says how lovely they are, but those that graced the front of the V70 I had a few years ago were terrible. Flat, slippery and just not very supportive at all. Combined with an iffy driving position, it was genuinely disappointing and meant I couldn't really go more than about an hour without wanting to shift about. Can't understand what the fuss is all about.

Otherwise, the fronts in the Horizon I had as a first car about 30 years ago were pretty rubbish in that they were like broken sponge sofas.

Not just me then! The seats in my S60 used to wreck my back. I used to have three different settings programmed into the memory seats so I could alter my position every ten minutes. Utter crap and, like you say, the leather was ridiculously slippery.

Make that 3.

I borrowed my mates old Saab 9-3 as a runabout expecting a st car but ultra lovely seats. It was fking horrible and never got comfy and it was still a st car.

BMW X3. Seats seemed to be too small. No thigh support and seriously uncomfortable over distance.

Early focus was horrendous, had one as a hire car and had to stop after 20 mins to put a rolled up jumper behind my back.

I've yet to find a modern Vauxhall that's comfortable, the seat bases always seem very flat and hard.

My old 306 convertible. Dark green with a kind of sand coloured leather is probably the best looking combo in a car I’ve owned to date, but my god they were uncomfortable. Hard base/squab and a back that wouldn’t settle in a comfortable position. Dreadful

I dont find the sports seats in my 2018 3 series very comfy at all. Find on longer journeys I'm always moving to try and get comfy.

Jaguar XE with R-Sport trim. The seats were fine on short journeys but anything more than half an hour and I would find myself really struggling with my lower back and shoulders.

Vauxhall Corsa and Ford Fiesta both give me back ache, Alfa MiTo the same and the current Insignia is not good either.

The best seats appear to be sport seats, my BMW seats are great and the Audi S Line seat to make an office chair from. Anything that departs from sport seats too much seems to lack the support to make them comfortable.

I have an octavia vrs company car. I find the seats terrible and wish I'd never got it. It's fine for about half an hour but terrible on longer journeys.

I have to admit though that this is probably due to my size 6ft4 powerfully built (no directorships). The bolsters on the sides of the bucket seats don't accommodate the larger ass and just dig in.

My K11 micra were far comfier over a long journey!

I found the most recent C-Class had very comfortable seats.o Plenty of lateral support and good lumber. I suffer lower back pain and this car really helped to alleviate that whilst driving. There appear to be a few different types of seat available for this model. They were slightly sportier than the standard ones and had the extension the support the rear of your knees. The only thing that stopped me driving it for hours was the £40 fuel tank hehe

Mrs Cmvtec's Volvo C30 isn't the best, the backrest seems to arch backwards. My X-Type is ok in a squishy kind of way. I can drive it for a long time without being uncomfortable but I suspect that's because I've done about 60,000 miles in it and I'm used to it.

My old man had recently bought a 2010 V70 R-Design and I really rate the seats in that. Very comfortable, but I've not driven it a lot.

2016 Ford Modeo Titanium - had a job with an obligatory company car and no choice what it was.

The headrests pushed my head uncomfortably forwards - remedied by reversing them - but worse, they felt like there was a steel bar running across the lower back. In just a couple of weeks I was in enough pain from maybe 5 hours a week in it that it affected my sleep. The local Ford dealer said it was meant to be uncomfortable because of the EU...

I refused to drive it again; after an Occupational Health assessment a lovely, lovely Octavia SE was delivered in its place. Smaller outside, bigger inside, faster, less thirsty, and very comfy heated seats. I doubt anyone else will understand the deep, genuine joy I felt at having an Octavia.

Interesting - I just swapped an XK8 for a Merc SL because my shoulders didn't fit in the seats. It was fine around town but rubbish any further, never had that problem in old XJS's and the Mercedes is very comfy and supportive.

BMW SE seats. I presume that these were made for, erm....a larger frame than I am.
