All the Vauxhalls I've sampled. If a car hire place tries to give me one I won't accept it any more.

New Ford Focus seats for me. Changed my car early because of them and a long journey would leave me virtually crippled on exit. Nasty things on an otherwise excellent car.

So what this thread proves is that everyone is different. Comfy to one person is agony after a few minutes to another.

My 320d MSport was not comfortable, not sure if it was because everything for the seat was manual, or the car felt too low down to sit in, but not very comfortable at all. The seats in the back were cramped for the Mrs between 2 baby seats as well.

The Recaros in the Fiesta ST, and presumably the same in the Focus ST. I was all set to upgrade a cooking Fiesta to an ST. On a test drive I couldn't believe how tight and narrow the seats felt, and I'm not powerfully-built by any means.

Alfa 4C - I could only do a max of 30 mins without a break.
One of the best we’re the Probax seats in my Exige.

Over the years we have had drivers complaining about seats on various cars, mainly it seems due to bad adjustment or posture but the one that sticks in my mind is the 2005-2017 Aston Martin Vantage as I know of two people who had to sell them due to the poor seats.

I once borrowed a Peugeot people carrier about a 2012 5008. It had leather seats but the pattern had a vertical piece of leather right up the centre which I found really dug in my back

My wife has just picked up her mustang. I drive it 18 miles the other day. Mainly on a bypass. By the time I got to work 30 mins later I practically had to roll out of the car I was in so much back pain. The base is all electric but the upright control is a ratchet and lever system. It’s impossible to get comfortable. Either laid back like a gangster or upright. Just not enough fidelity in the selection.

I appreciate it was a first drive and I could probably adjust the seat better but they were awful.

Also I always dreamed of owning a mustang. Having now driven one no thanks it’s bloody awful. Sounds great though.

Works Astra was terrible. They are horrible things. Can't ever get comfy in them. Spend 8 hours a day in them at times.

Anything Audi or VW for me, I sold both an A3 Sline and Mk5 Golf GT TD because of the seats. The driving position is also rubbish on most VW group cars, the steering wheel, pedals and seats and all in different postcodes. The A8 though is comfortable.

I’ve got a Passat, had four golfs and an Audi. My Mrs has an Audi and previously had a golf. We both love the seats!

I'm very fortunate as there aren't many makes of cars that I can think of that I haven't driven, and I cant recall any that had even remotely uncomfortable seats.

Sure, some were different to the car that I drive daily but none were anywhere even approaching unacceptable.

Someone really needs to tell VAG if their seats and driving position are that bad, otherwise whilst they have clearly suckered people in to buying one of their cars without an extended test drive, surely no one in UK, Europe or Rest of World will buy a second, their business will implode over night and the world will be awash with unwanted 6 month old VWs.

I love mine too, although it isn't actually anywhere near a car

The question I asked was which seats are uncomfortable (to you)? I don't for one second think that these car seats are universally uncomfortable, it’s which seats don’t gel with you as an individual.

I was genuinely surprised that I couldn’t get comfortable in an edge. I’m sure to many the seats are fine, it I was uncomfortable to the point I didn’t want to even sit in it.

You are obviously lucky that you get comfortable easily or you just haven’t come across that one car that doesn’t agree with you yet!

Totally agree. The telegraph has a piece online called the Lotus position, extolling the benefits of Probax seats.

I made the mistake of buying BMW F31 320d MSport without checking it had electric seats, I thought all £40k cars would have them. The manual seats, M Sport suspension & run flat tyres were hell for me.

Current shape Vauxhall Astra

I had one as a company car, could only bare it for about 30 mins before having the stop due to back and hip pain caused by no lumbar support and a strangely high lower seat squob, coupled with no arm rest and very little padding in the seat and no where to put your arm on the door card made it a awful car to drive

The insignia I have now on the other hand is great, loads of adjustment, padding a great arm rest, really is a great cruiser. The seats in it are almost as good as the ones in my A3

Baby seats, nowadays, are very wide. I don’t think two child/baby seats plus an adult in the back is ever going to go well in any standard family car.
