I'm failing here as a BMW nerd, but is this the first Alpina to use an M specific engine (S58 ilo B58) - typically alpina turbo/charge/bugger about with the cooking engines not the M division ones?

Looks cool, glad Alpina have gone away from having unique steering wheels etc, sometimes looked a bit tacky imo. Just the right level of individuality for me.

Strongly considering getting one of these. Debadged, without the stickers but with chrome kidney grilles.

Oo I missed that this was the S58. Makes it even better IMO. And yes that could well be the first time Alpina have used an M engine. It also means at 460hp its seriously under-stressed and has a lot of headroom in it. Over to you tuners of the world....

I like it but I'd love a Giulia Quad estate even more frown

That's an excellent green.

What I don't understand, though, is that I'd really like an Alpina, but have no interest in a BMW.

Pity their tuning is a detune then from 510hp to 460hp, looks a great car but spec one like that is with the Lavalina leather and they get very expensive I bet that one is around 75-80k.

Nice.... Aside from the AC Schnitzer style wheels...

Just hope they put that in an SUV body too.

I’m not liking the silvery fang-things on the front bumper in the top photo, however they seem to be body-coloured in subsequent images (?) which is more to my liking.
That`s just a reflection of the floor on the top photo isn`t it?
Mea Culpa!
I was looking on my piephone and the screen was bedazzled with reflections from the unseasonal sunshine!

My old E46 B3 had a US market M3 block... do like this Touring. A lot.

I would love one of these, in that dark green Alpina colour too. Gorgeous car, under the radar, fast and discrete.

Everything about this is cool, except the way it looks. Revolting. Although admittedly, they didn’t have much to work with.

I have been eagerly awaiting the reveal on the G2x B3 as i came close to buying the last of the F31 B3S tourings.

It great they have chosen to launch it in touring format instead of the saloon first and i have been undecided over looks of the the G21 offerings from BMW but Alpina have worked their magic and the result it awesome!

Alpina blue, brown leather, 20" 20 spokes and full Alpina stripes for me please!

The E31 Alpina B12 5.7 used a modded version of the 850CSi's 5.6 S70 engine.

That's not impossible... I'd never owned any BMW prior to buying my F31 Alpina D3!
