Terrible colors but it must be reasonably reliable to rack up 40K miles.

Are they really less reliable than a Ferrari?

rofl that colour combination!
Because it's not Retail Silver with Predictable Black leather? Not my choice either, but I assume it was somebody's aspiration.

The correct colour for a McLaren is Papaya. IMO, of course smile
I'm all for different interiors and colours, I've had yellow, orange and even blue with red wheels. But Arabian White and Turd Brown do not a nice pair make!

Regardless of the colour does anyone truly look at a 650S and think it's good looking?

I'm currently considering a McLaren, but the unknown bills and continuing depreciation is putting me off.

The 90k 650S could be £50k in two years.
Thorney Motorsport will warranty it for £2,850 a year, way less than McLaren and look after many McLarens, mine included.

I've put 5,500 miles on it since March with the only failure being a turbo hose clip.

It's maybe a little safe looking, McLaren don't have the heritage of Porsche, Aston or Lambo that allows them to update the same style for decades, but it's not a ugly like the new NSX.

Crazy when compared to Porsche/R8 levels perhaps, but are they really much different to Ferrari/Lambo prices? I appreciate the two Italians have come a long way in recent years when it comes to extended warranty periods and fixed servicing periods, but outside of that are the McLaren's still that much in a league of their own? If so, why?!

I hear dreadful things regarding running costs but would like some real world experiences of them being so destroying versus the competition. (or is it these are seen as more competition for a 911 or R8...).

Can someone give examples of eye watering maintenance or repair costs for these or 12C?

Any supercar will be expensive to run and maintain.

90k sounds a bargain - need to know what worst case scenario is with annual running costs.
I thought the "hoovies garage" YouTube channels ownership of a 12c was quite eye opening... He had the big bd warranty, but without it I think you'd be talking the value of the car.....in repairs. It's crippling money, because McLaren didn't know how to build a car.

These are going to be worthless in a matter of years.

If you follow the Secret Supercar Owner he really praises the reliability of his 675LT and 720S - can it be any less dependable than a Ferrari, always going to be big bills with a supercar?

Compared to newer stuff from Ferrari, they come with 5 yrs free maintenance covering everything except tires, same as the 5k cover at McLaren or Thorney's near 3k.
Was seriously considering one, think they look the part, albeit colour sensitive, but the shoddy built really put me off, it had few rubber parts around the underside doors which fell off while opening, the windshield rubbers have been loose (they all do that sir, will fix them with some silicone...), all in all a glorious kit car, albeit of the finest pieces.
It drives better than everything comparable, though, but it's a really brave pill to swallow...

Ferraris have had 7 years free maintenance/servicing for a few years now and new cars have a 4 year warranty which is extendable.

I would imagine it was Mclaren who built it, not the owner.

The Hoovies Garage 12c made me question McLaren's commitment to non finance-era cars... it seems you could run up the purchase price of this one in bills easily in just a couple of years...

A guy we use to repair damaged leather would have that interior black and looking new for £2K.

It would transform it.
