I have been monitoring the prices of McLarens for a while, this 12C spider to my eyes looks like an absolute steal at £75k:-

Think I am a little bit in love with it, 47k miles or not cloud9
You might want to Google GC Motors first. Even what's on this site with it's no name no shame rule makes for interesting reading.

Hard to know where to start.

Hanging out on the McLaren forum? I think I commented on 3 threads.

And anyone can comment on any thread they wish, as I'm sure you're aware.

I wasn't constantly telling people their McLarens are rubbish either. If that was the case, why would Brad, a multiple McLaren owner, be fine with me.

It was the MOC cliques attitude that caused problems across their entire forum. Case in point, Brad, amongst many others, thinks they are ridiculous. If my opinion as a Lamborghini owner doesn't count, perhaps his does?

As for your public service and growing up comments, well the less said about them the better.

Brad and I already agreed this isn't the thread for this. Hopefully you can see that too, so I won't derail things anymore. If I comment again, it will be on topic only.
For what it’s worth I edited my original post but was quoted before I finished.
I just get so bored of the ludicrously partisan negative posts from the usual suspects but I accept that you are not one of them.

Surely these can’t be THAT bad

Surely the engine won’t blow or gearbox fail if you bought one and drove it on the weekends, special occasions averaging 100 jokes per week?

I have no experience with McLaren’s or any supercars but I can’t imagine that with the money McLaren spent on developing this car that it’s just going to fall apart or disintegrate after 50k miles!

Oh he got me banned from the McLaren forum ages ago mate.

They are welcome to their weird little cult.
Me too Lol but they are still depreciating and it’s got nothing to do with me yikes

On topic the white 650 looks somewhat of a bargain in the bang for bucks stake but I still feel the overall ownership proposition is the main area of concern for new entrants to the Mac market

720s now looking great buys with some epic specs and minimal miles around the £150k mark ( close to half price on a big spec car)so a 650 is always going to be well south of 100k

Once the independent market grows beyond Thorney it should help the lower price cars level out a bit

I nearly bought a 650s with buckets at £179950, lucky escape for me that would have hurt!

Unreliable cars are fine as long as you have a sense of humour and some spare cash. From what I read/hear these are much like a TVR in terms of reliability, but my TVR has always given me something to talk/laugh about with friends/family. It is part of the charm/character of owning a car like this.

There is someone I know who has a TVR and a McLaren...his life won't be boring that is for sure! biggrin A car that's unreliable doesn't stop it from selling either, and you only have to look at Land Rover/Range Rover for proof of that.

100 jokes? Yep you need to have a personality to run a Mc.

This. I was thinking exactly this recent and accepting that i'm not that person any longer. I've had terrible cars before including a recalcitrant TVR smile

Good way of looking at it. a 10k bill on a TVR isn't too uncommon, but still more love than hate for them.

He doesn't have a place in South of France does he (near Port Grimaud).. A guy who I haven't met with the lodge behind ours has a TVR and Mac, cant be that many brave souls about!

The front of all modern McLarens all look hideous to me. Rather how I imagine 1990s Hyundai would have styled a premium car. The swooshes are just vulgar to my eyes.

The only decent looking McLaren was the F1 or the original MP3 thing. Absurd name aside.

Utter bargain at that price IMO, but seems I'm in the minority.

I'd agree with the retrim, then stick a Thorney/McWarranty on it and for under £100k you'll have a proper supercar that is real world quicker than almost anything out there. Harder to go faster for the money.

Not a big fan of white though. Looks are always subjective but personally the front of the Macs are the best bit for me.

And spend your time explaining that although it does look similar, it really isn't a TT.

Just a thought- it sounds like exaggeration to me. It's his word. I'm sure it's eye watering and no doubt priced that way to encourage buying a warranty.

For a bit of perspective. On a CarGuys video, a 355 spider had a routine cam belt change and service. Engine out job. The cost was £18k. You have to really want to run one of these cars long term and obviously have very deep pockets.
