That'd look great with some larger all terrain tyres. As would most cars.

Well, except for the quantifiable facts that it has a small boot, is more expensive, is fractionally slower and has a lower quality interior.

Don’t get me wrong, I like it, I think it looks great but that statement doesn’t really hold up. I’ll be surprised if it’s as good to drive too, given the compromises of the crossover layout - higher CoG etc.
I’ll put you blind folded in two cars with a small difference in COG, and you do a down the shops and back route, if you can tell which is which I’ll give you 10 grand
You’re on!

I mean, I seriously doubt I’d be able to tell but that’s a 50/50 shot at ten grand, gotta be worth a punt. When and where? smile

Not my cup of tea but SUV’s / crossovers are where it’s at these days.

Still not sure why you’d buy this over the Golf R which is more practical, cheaper and nicer inside.

The elevated driving position more than makes up for the minor degradation in grip and performance.

I really like the T-Roc, such a shame they don’t offer a GTE version, as I’d be all over that like a tramp on chips.

If you want that shape: get that shape
If you want that engine: don’t get that shape
..and don’t get that shape, with that engine at that price.

Prices of cars are going frigging stupid of late

Hmmm a t-roc for 38k plus options is going to be over 40k which puts the tax up then if we have brexit and they impose 10% etc etc

Rather get a pre reg Macan for 44-45k

Better residuals
Better badge

But not a like for like comparison, especially if you're financing the purchase. You may as well say 'I'll wait for a pre-reg T-Roc R and save myself £10k'. (And how much will a pre-reg Macan cost after a 10% import duty as been applied to new ones?)

£38k is a few K more than a Golf R, so it doesn't sound too far off on price.

This. The auto world is so boring nowadays. Just keep knocking out the same old chod but with higher power figures.

Well they wouldn’t get 30–38k out of me

Christ makes my mk7 gti pp a relative bargain!!

30k plus options rrp was 37k
7k discount got it for 30k

This t-roc will go over 40k with a couple of options and that brings it to the over 40k tax bracket even if discounted back to 38k its a lot of money both to buy and run!

I would like to see people sit in the golf r estate and then sit in the T-Roc R and tell me which is nicer.

The T-Roc has a more plastic dash than the golf r.

I agree re handling etc, all most people care about is how fast it is in a straight line, I very rarely get to use the full performance of my r on a regular basis.

I get why it exists (the T-Roc R), its where the market has been for the last 10 years (thanks nissan Qahsqai!) but personally if its going to be the wifes car, there are quite a few cars that I think are better than the T-Roc R (not as fast but better as a family car - pug 3008 for a start).

Another bland box on stilts. At least it’s not convertible, that really be the car for those that plan toilet breaks.

Loaded with options probably not much less than a Macan, which are still awful, but at least has a badge you can talk about smile
