I wonder if the owner tows his house with it too?

Genuinely at a loss as to why this was the first thing that popped into some of minds.

Sure I can think of plenty things that would lead me to a similar conclusion, but seeing a Bentagya towing an Ifor Williams & a mini digger isn't one of them.

I'm probably missing something subtle or I'm just naive.

Obviously I’m not towing but I am astonished to get 15mpg on my 5 mile city centre commute. It’s more economical than my diesel Rangey was.
Did you do the sensible thing Dave and get the W12? Man, I love that engine cloud9

I feel sorry for the next unassuming owner (sort of)
Why?
Go on, have a guess.
Bit snobbish

That's always the risk of 2nd hand cars , you have no idea what the last owner did with it , not that towing will make much of a difference

Our old W12 supersport (much lighter, I'd imagine) seemed to sit around 18ish mpg, so in a heavier car with 3 tons on the back, he must be getting somewhere near single digits.

I bet he doesn't care. laugh

Yep but only because it was the cheapest car on sale in the whole of the UK (and it was from Bentley with a warranty) otherwise a V8 would have been ok. I hated having a diesel in the RR the first and last diesel I’ve ever had with my own £

Exactly. Also it’s not as if it’s going to break doing some towing work.

I reckon most people that have one of these could afford to easily buy two if they wanted, so no need to wrap it up in cotton wool.

This
No 4x4 is anything to look at.
Those with blinged up 4x4s, RR's with chome/bull bars/limo Black glass / 24inch wheels with rubber band profile tyres and polished to within an inch of theirs lives ect just look plain ridiculous doing the school run (aka grass verge run) and without exception they'll always be a nerdy, goofy, geeky type at the wheel..

The wifes cousin - yes he's in tarmac and has a tow bar on the back of his.

I think I recognise this guy, is he from Scotland and a large share holder with a team from Glasgow? I'm sure I've seen him at some matches.

To be fair if you were in the business of stealing industrial equipment can’t think of a better car for escaping at speed with a trailer. It’s got enough poke.

It’s good to see one being used.
Yup, don't get a car that is common as muck and blends in, but one that is rare and easier to track down.

Don't take up crime hehe

Probably not. It’s towing limit is 3500kg, and that lot is probably half that. I would assume that a lot of owners use them for towing horse boxes, and horses are not light animals.
Noooo, trailer is about 750kg before any load, digger is 1.5t, compy another 500kg or so. Not far off 3t all up.
Wonder if tachograph is a factory option!

I spotted that one at B+Q about a year ago. thumbup

that's the one. It hasn't been here this week but there have been about 4 different cars this week from the regular fleet, Ghots, Phantoms, Wraiths.. he has worked himself into a good position, clearly, to be permitted to drive them home.
Spoke too soon... he’s had it here this weekend wink

Nice to see it being used.

I had a chat with Rolls-Royce about the Cullinan at Goodwood in the summer, I said it would be perfect for going off skiing in the winter so what’s the cost of a roof rack for one? To my surprise they can’t take a roof rack! They won’t be getting my imaginary money!

They did however say that’s been one of the most requested items from owners.
A ludicrous oversight.

I owned a car in the early/mid 90's, second-hand buy but can't remember which one it was now for the life of me.

The only thing I recall was that it had an optimistically named "ski-hatch", aka a hole in the back seats with a panel you could pull out.

Might have been the XR4i?

Loads of cars back in the day had ski hatches and it's still a thing now.

There is a tachograph exemption for vehicles and vehicle combinations that don't exceed 7.5 tonnes GTW. If memory serves the provisos are that you go no further than a 100km radius from your base and that the driver of the towing vehicle has a job other than driving i.e. when he gets to his destination he operates the digger for the rest of the day.
