860 will be a shell without much creature comfort. Engine can be bored to 2,3 I thought...

Do you bore a Nord? Or do you fit new liners?

Interesting comments on the weights and power etc. Mine is 860kg and 185bhp. The engine, whilst still within the regs for the series I run, is bored to 2000cc rather than its original capacity.
Yes, the kerb weight I found was just for the standard Alfa 1300GT Junior with approx. 2 gallons of petrol = 960kg. Weight with 2 testers, test equipment etc came out at 1153kg

2000GTV with approx. 2 gallons came out at 1028kg

Those are just from the Autocar/Motor road tests of the time so won't be lightened panels, stripped interior etc

I did however swap it for this, which although more usable on the roads, lacked the excitement of the gtam replica
That looks perfect to me. cool

Great pics. Not sure the wide arched bumperless racer is the prettiest of them all, but still looks great.

The Giugiaro penned Giulia GT Coupe / Junior must be one of the most versatile, pretty and great driving 60s cars around.
Uhhhhhh, Bertone did those ones old sport tongue out
No.
Giorgetto Giugiaro designed them when he was working for Bertone.
I'm pretty sure Giugiaro was doing his military service when he penned this car. I assume commissioned by Bertone at the time or simply still employed by them while completing his national service, and he was very young too, like 18 - 20 years old or so, when he designed it, if I recall?

He was 17 according to one of the videos linked above ( the one with the Alfaholics car and Charles Morgan in )

He did the 2600 Sprint first. Can you see the family resemblance?

I find the 2600 a bit ungainly, it’s clearly a practice run for the Giulia GT, along the process also came the Gordon Keeble GT, which is probably now the rarest of the three.

The Nord engine is a wonderful thing, common thinking seems to be the 1750 is the sweet spot, and indeed it’s a lovely engine, but I prefer the extra grunt of the 2000.

I’ve never driven a 1600 or a 1300 though.

How easy would it be to make a modern reinterpretation of these on a Giulia chassis..........
Not easy at all I think. One day Alfa might do Giulia Coupe again, we can but dream.

They reckon the lines of the new Tonale pay homage to the shape of the original Giulia GT, but you really have to stretch your imagination for that.

I clicked on this expecting a fat FWD Fiat with an Alfa badge, but was very pleasantly surprised hehe
Sadly so did I!, most people don’t say GT Coupe in reference to these, Sprint GT, Giulia GT, Bertone Coupe..... etc.

Mind you what really gets my Goat is the Vauxhall boys who refer to the Astra Coupe as a Bertone Coupe........ Sacrilege!

Have to agree with you on the looks Re the 2600

I wouldn’t have minded the 2000GTV years back when they were cheaper but they seemed to be a lot rarer than the Juniors

The 2000s seem respectable even now

Certainly enough I could enjoy it on the roads round here

Yes, that would adequately describe mine. My car has been lightened as much as regs will allow which is ironic as I then get in it and all gains are lost! laugh

Good question. I don't know the answer for certain but i'm sure I was told it was bored.
