RE: Alpine | PH Meets
Discussion
While this is true of Aluminium surface corrosion, exfoliating corrosion can be a bigger problem however if galvanic corrosion takes hold.
Having said that Aluminium in cars is a fairly well established practice now and it sounds like Alpine are taking the right measures.

Any particular reason you haven’t gone for the sports exhaust?
See the article before where he discusses his order. Budget for options was limited so OP had to choose what to get, and he felt the wheels added more to his experience of ownership.Edited by hyphen on Monday 30th September 06:18

Does the Alpine have steel bits attached to it? I don't think I was paying enough attention.Having said that Aluminium in cars is a fairly well established practice now and it sounds like Alpine are taking the right measures.

I had the enormous pleasure of seeing my Exige 410 in production at Hethel. Seeing it at a point where it was a chassis with the engine fitted but nothing else and just a few panels painted sitting nearby was really special. An opportunity not to be missed if you ever get the opportunity.

I got mine in July and am just on the way back from visiting spa classic. Absolutely loving the car. It was brilliant on the roads over there.

Not keen on the sports exhaust on my PE, so I can sympathise with his choice. That said, with the introduction of the particulate filter, without the sports exhaust it may sound very muted.Any particular reason you haven’t gone for the sports exhaust?
I have to say that I hope this report (along with videos of the production process) will silence critics who say the Alpine is expensive. When you see how it's made it looks very good value - to me at least.
[quote=banana]Dan - In case you had any doubt - the A110 is perfect balance of power and girth for the NC500 - good colour choice as well.

I've been trying to convince the OH of that - but no success so far. Getting too late in the year to fancy it now - I'll try again next year. May have to go without her if I can find some mates to do it with.

Some mighty big presumptions there bcr5784, both about me and also about everybody else !
I always read the same st on here, 'oh you don't like the Alpine, must not have driven it then' as if it's not possible to dislike it for any other reason.
Car is massively overpriced, and will return to market values in due course. Of course if you don't give a st about that then crack on, in my view there's a lot better options out there particularly if you're spending 50 grand. Having Clio switchgear and the association with Renault just puts it in a different price point.

Have you driven either? Simple question. I have yet to read of anyone who has actually driven it and the opposition who hasn't been very impressed EXCEPT one Lotus Exige guy who wanted something more hardcore (fair enough but there is the A110S now and even more track orientated versions to come) All of the press to a man are very positive about the Alpine, almost all prefer it to the Supra, and a few - the likes of Chris Harris etc who have actually spent their own money on it. And as for prices dropping - have you actually looked for a secondhand one below list, even though some are 18 months old now? Compared sales in Europe with the 718 Cayman? The Alpine easily outsells it at the moment- obviously a lot of people who have doubtless looked at the opposition - don't think it overpriced. Clearly the "market" values driving pleasure and high tech construction above Clio switchgear and badge snobbery- surprising as that seems.
