This is a great thread. These trucks don't really work in the Uk, mainly due to size and restrictions in legislation but make absolute perfect sense in their native element.

A 10sp gearbox? Is that really needed with that level of torque?

Just think of it as a 5 speed box with an OverDrive on each gear. It wouldn’t need to use all the gears every time. But gives the engine versatility.

Any chance of these (petrol or diesel) coming in crate form? ??
The cummins 5.9/6.7 found in the Dodge RAM competitor to this truck can be fairly commonly found in DAF LF Lorries here (until recently, they have switched to a Paccar branded engine with a VERY similar design).

They are a common swap into Land Rover Defenders, I believe they also fit Disco 1s & 2s.

I don't know about the 6.7 as I have a 7.3 which is pretty old by comparison and has a 4 speed overdrive transmission. At 2000RPM, it feels unstoppable. I suspect that with a 10 speed, it will be in it's peak torque all the time.
These are quite the motors. I've seen an F350 with a 6.7 pulling a 3 car hauler merging on the highway and accelerating like it was carrying no load. It's quite impressive.

I always like the Dodge Ram alternative to the Ford - it just looks better

They certainly seem to tow some amazing trailers that I doubt would be legal/acceptable in the UK and certainly don't hang about

Love em

Never really been convinced about the Land Rover Cummins swaps. The 6BT engine is in the region of 900lbs!!!! A Rover V8 is more like 320lbs.

Our Duellie somewhere in the middle of Saudi Arabia! Amazing vehicle, 6.6l V8TD, red line at 3000rpm, but really no need to go above 2.

Covered over 1,700km in 17 hours, one of my most memorable drives. Barely noticed the rally car on the trailer - until you needed to slow down...!!

Never driven one myself, there is a lad in my local offroad club has one, a 130. Consider them a dream vehicle myself so have always coveted his somewhat, it's my understanding that in 110s and 130s they work fairly well, obviously heavy but manageable with uprated front springs, readily available with most small lift kits. However 90 builds tend to be somewhat unstable are are really difficult to get the drivetrain to line up properly due to how short the rear prop has to be.

That being said, getting a VOSA pull in one well towing a trailer might be an interesting experience.
