Can you give me a link for the thumbgrips please? Did they just glue on, do they come with glue and if not what did you use and has it lasted?
I was gonna get the wheel re-trimmed and still might but thumbgrips I can do myself without having a steering-wheel-less daily for a few weeks.

The oil leak on mine ended up being the gasket between the plenum and cam cover which is a sort of egg-shaped 0-ring thing. It wasn't even in straight, didn't even replaced it just straightened it out, leak fixed.
Except for a little drop where the gear linkage goes into the box.

I got mine from eBay as well - stuck thm on with a bit of gorilla glue as I recall and they have been fine ever since. Think I used a wooden coffee stirrer to spread the glue thumbup

I inherited my 172 Cup from my dad - have had dephaser and water pump done, replaced the headlights, repainted the front and refurbed the wheels. It’s probably the most fun car I have ever owned, bar the VX - the TVR has been well and truly relegated to the garage.

Removed the UCH this week and sent it off to be looked at, as it makes a rather odd clicking noise sometimes and sends the lights all strobey if they are on laugh

Just coming up to 37,000 on the clock, so way below average. Bloody fabulous car. Can’t see me selling it anytime soon.

The thumb grips process is simple. Peel off the old ones, you might need a large flat screwdriver to get started. Try not to seperate the rubber attached to the steering wheel underneath. Clean up the surfaces then stick on the new grips. I used super glue, but gorilla glue or tiger seal will work. Make sure the glue goes to the very edge of the grips.
It's genuinely a 5 minute job and needs no skill at all...

Surprised by that really. Mine was pretty good on fuel for what it was - over 40mpg is easy if driven sensibly.

The debate between Clio and Civic is a long-running one. The Civic has a better engine and gearbox, but the Clio has better steering and, being so small, feels like a proper little pocket rocket. The Civic is hardly a bastion of quality inside either, let's face it.
