I could not be less enthused by these offerings.
Just what I was thinking. I feel that way about the entire car industry now if I'm honest. Lotus are the only manufacturer I'm interested in. Everyone else is producing this sort of 4 cylinder, 4wd, automatic gearbox, farty trash now. Unless we talk cars that are out of reach for the unwashed at 100k+ but even then I feel like I've seen it all before.Usual crap writing style from pistonheads as well. Enough to out me to sleep.
Bravaria this hethel that ... Dieppe hit me with a Whiffle ball bat.

This made me laugh - why does a half-arsed degree mean you have a more valid view on aesthetics than the wider public - who do you think car designers are designing for? I'd be surprised if there's even a 'graphic design' course at Newcastle Uni.....more of a Newcastle College kind of subject really.
Anyway, back to the car - it's a messy and bland looking thing to my eye, but the interior is better than I've seen in others (and much nicer than the A35). The redeeming feature of the 135i was its 6 cylinder engine - sadly now lost.
Erm, because I'm trained in design that's why. And research before commenting please, it's slightly embarrassing. Would you buy a coffee recommended by a barista or Kev from accounts? A designer creates for a brief, with personal touches added. BMW dont care if you dont like it, they want the publicity and discussion Anyway, back to the car - it's a messy and bland looking thing to my eye, but the interior is better than I've seen in others (and much nicer than the A35). To answer your question, I would take coffee recommendations from those that drank it, in preference to those that sold it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and your seeming lack of understanding of the inherent subjectivity of aesthetics is odd. If not everyone likes the 135i, that's ok...

Life would be easier without the chip on your shoulder.. Not sure what was embarrassing, so I did some research as suggested. No graphic design course on the Newcastle Uni page, but the college does one. Either way, I recognise that this is as irrelevant as you mentioning graphic design in the first place.

Haha try the northumbria page instead and then come back. To answer your question, I would take coffee recommendations from those that drank it, in preference to those that sold it. Design is 100% subjective, I may spend days working on a brief that is not to my taste. If, and only IF I buy a 135i it will be because of the way it drives. My issue with the multiple gopping comments is that they are disingenuous.

Disingenuous means lack of sincerity - I suspect those saying "gopping" are being very sincere.

Why have they hobbled the beemer with awful tyres?
I wondered that. Fast Beemers have recently worn pretty racey rubber. This one doesn't seem to. Might as well put some Michelin Energy on it. But at least it has a nice big boot. Chris Goffey is dead, long live Chris Goffey. Dombilano said:

Could anyone ever predict that 300bhp hot hatches could become so cold?
£47k list price for a 300bhp hatch is mental.
I realise this is like comparing Cognac vs a bottle of house wine, but give me massively compromised and not that fast 255 V6 Clio over these two. It would be worth the monumental PITA using one as a daily just not to experience these anodyne, devoid of any joy machines. The design isn't challenging , its by the numbers which is why its so identikit compared to its rivals.£47k list price for a 300bhp hatch is mental.
I never thought that the idea of a 300bhp hatchback wouldn't really appeal to me. But these two are so obviously built to be volume sellers(relatively), both lack excitement and desirability if you are a petrol head for me. Bland seems to sum them up nicely.
I can't believe I'm saying this but I'd rather have the Audi S3 over these now that the big three Germans all offer the same configuration of 4 cyl turbo/auto/4wd.

You're getting into the realms of being able to buy a BTL in a stty area for about the same price as a souped-up boggo hatchback. Think it's a bit on the silly side, to be fair.
Also, if you had a choice between a brand new M140 and this new M135, which one would you pick? I'd go for the 140.

Ugly as sin? To my eyes from the rear 3/4 angle at least, this is a bit of a looker. The grille is challenging, but mini MPV? No, wrong.
Obviously I’m not allowed to comment, having not done a degree in graphic design...
