What's with the ribbons of grey plastic stuck on the front and back ? Are they supposed to be "design" or functional ?
Audi did the same with the revised R8 at the back, they just look tacked on and sort of give these low slung sports cars more an "allroad" type look which is completely at odds with ground hugging.I think Astons current woes are down to the new Vantage just looking awful and costing too much over a Porsche 911 / F type etc. You could get away with charging a lot when the car looked great, this new one, their bread and butter car, just looks poor.
Styling upgrade needs to change the front grill, make the headlights larger and less narrow, it looks too Japanese at the moment.
Aston Martin have some good cars coming up, but the Vantage is costing them until then. How did it ever get signed off, surely they must have got owners in before release on a showaround to judge opinion? Maybe they should have got random PH people in, would have given them a more honest opinion.

Doesn't have a hope against the 992 convertible. It's 10-20% more expensive and 10-20% worse in style and I'll bet, performance too. AM are just rubbish these days.
I have an old style Roadster and must be prime candidate to update to the new model but I agree with you 100%. I would rather have the Porsche because the new Vantage design is a total mess. It is no longer a car I want to look at or look back at. I never liked the lights and front end of the F Type either but side by side with the new Vantage I think I'd buy the Jag.Bobajobbob said:

... and the Jag is considerably cheaper (or more bang for your buck). F-Type still looks good after 7 years and the imminent face-lift model should help to keep it fresh too. As others have said this Vantage Roadster now looks like the poor relation never mind the fact that it will cost a lot more than the Jag. Aside from the badge factor not sure how that can be justified especially when they will both be available with similar engines (no V12 magic with Vantage anymore) and the interior in the Aston is just disappointing when compared with what came before.
I’ve got to follow the crowd on this one, I t just smacks of lazy ‘styling’, and seems to be an uneasy blend of proportions.Personally I find the rear overhang way too short (a la F type)
The rear, as others have opined, is awful, the wavy grey plastic looking like it has parked to close to an industrial-sized kerosene heater.
I’m guessing that the view out is t exactly panoramic either, the hood by necessity being small and the glasses openings equally on the small size, which should make pulling out at oblique junctions ‘interesting’

All convertibles look worse than the coupe equivalent IMO, having a folding top is always going to have styling compromises.
This AM is no different, the current 911 convertible is even uglier with its whale tail hump.
I think the previous Vantage pulled it off as it was a simpler and better resolved shape to start with.
A Vantage coupe with a manual gearbox, and panoramic roof must surely be the sweet spot - if they made it!!!
