I was looking at the specs of the pre facelift GLC220d the other day and I was shocked to see that it only has 168bhp(that's just over 20bhp less than my Mini!).
My GLC350d is hardly a rocket ship with 258bhp but I'd imagine the GLC220d to be a right slug to drive with its kerbweight. I remember how my 520d touring struggled with 1700kg and that had 177bhp!!
The GLC is better with a slow and steady approach granted, but I think that the 220d would be taking it to the extreme. In fairness to the GLC220d though all the reviews I've read say that it is the one to have, and I guess that is why the 350d(3 litre V6) engine has been dropped now from the GLC.
Things are coming full circle - that’s the same power as a first generation ML270 CDI (I have one)My GLC350d is hardly a rocket ship with 258bhp but I'd imagine the GLC220d to be a right slug to drive with its kerbweight. I remember how my 520d touring struggled with 1700kg and that had 177bhp!!

How can that be right? I've got a 68 plate E220d which has 194bhp and 400nm of torque, 9 speed auto - it's a big bus but it's by no means slow. I can't imagine that the GLC is that much heavier. That bhp figure is surely incorrect, unless the "220" bit means something totally different.
The 2016 model GLC220d definitely only has 168bhp which I was pretty shocked at in fairness(especially when my MINI has more power!!). However it has 295 ib/ft torque(which is the same as my old V8 4 Litre M3) so it probably doesn't feel as slug like as I'm imagining though. Good to hear that the facelift/current GLC220d has more power now though.

The 2016- E220 was introduced with a new generation OM654 single-turbo 194PS 2.0 engine that was quieter and smoother than the contemporary OM651 biturbo 2.1 litre 220 and 250 with 170PS and 204PS respectively. Those also had the 7G gearbox at the time rather than the 9G - although later got the 9G (all GLC220/250ds had the 9G 4-Matic). I presume that by now that old 2.1 unit (which has its bones somewhere in the mid 1990s) has been superseded across the range by the all-new 2.0 family.
Over 30 years ago, our neighbour where we used to live, won a huge amount of money. He ordered a top model Range Rover, and when it arrived he proudly showed it off, only for me to point out that the gold leaf lettering on the bonnet was spelled wrong !!.
VOUGE.
I kid you not !!.
Had to have a complete bonnet.

Gotta laugh! When BL were churning out the identical (badges and grilles aside) 1100 Austin/ Morris FWD models sometimes the grilles got mixed.
You can teach the Germans some things after all! Cowley rules. OK!! Oh I forgot - guess where the Mini is (largely) produced - though I guess BMW will have sorted that potential type of issue ....hopefully!

All sorted. E200 is now replaced by E350. However, 4Matic is still there (non 4Matic car) - I don’t mind. MB did check up and there was only one issue(I reported before check up). It was unpowered 12V socket which was subsequently powered (apparently never connected and it was not only new car which had same problem fixed that day in MB Brooklands). I hope I won’t find more problems in the future. Thanks all for your valuable contributions.
