Nice colour.

That's it for the positives. Christ on a bike, who signed that off? Who says our German friends don't have a sense of humour?

The previous 2 (and the 1 coupe it replaced) were slightly oddly proportioned coupe versions of the slightly oddly proportioned 1 series hatchbacks, so at least with this new one BMW are sticking to their heritage biggrin

So instead of swinging for homeruns, the only thing that BMW is swinging around the ugly stick.

Why do you automatically assume that people who finance cars can't afford them? Did you not think that some people can afford to buy them outright, but would rather not sink their capital into a car that they know they want to get rid of in the next couple of years? In certain circumstances, it is better to finance a car than buy it outright

No automatic assumption and to a large extent I'm in your camp if its done right, but there is no getting away from the fact without these plans they would absolutely sell less and there are many who have been left digging themselves out of a badly advised hole because it looked good at the time and without it the dealer would never have scored a sale. In 30 years in finance I have encountered dozens. That aside, I cannot get over how many times you can create a so called niche and make it pay. It would never surprise me if someone ends up going to the wall eventually.

What a huge waste of resources and materials...and ugly aswell.
You have to believe that the marketing men know they'll make a profit though?, who/where is the market? the far east?, as I thought saloons were a dying market....
Hoping it'll be super rare here in England.... please.

JESUS fkING CHRIST.

That is poor. Sorry, I don't mean poor, I mean absolutely offensive. What the hell were they thinking? It's not cohesive, it's not pretty, it's not aggressive, its not anything but god damn offensive.

I genuinely cannot get over how poor that is. What a clanger!!!

I remember when Alfa went FWD and made all their cars look st. This suffers the same problem, albeit with the slight exception that it would've looked st whatever the drivetrain.

Apologies, I thought you were one of the "anyone who finances a car is an idiot" brigade. I agree with you - you have to be very careful though and it has certainly allowed the stealers to tempt more people.

Wasn't the 147 and 156 FWD? I thought they were good looking cars!

Looks like an Insignia, but then the Active Tourer thing looks like a Zafira. I think BMWs best styling/design days are behind it. I guess this is what people want, but is not the BMW DNA that we grew up with and often dreamed of.

I'm actually getting angry at BMW now even though I know that might sound as ridiculous as their new car designs. BMW always had a nice sporty class to them but now they're just a f***ing mess! I've had a few BMW's over the years but there isnt a single new one I'd even consider buying.
Time to switch to Mercedes methinks.
