RE: VW T-Roc R | Driven
Discussion
So many negative comments which I am struggling to justify. Consumers want choice and this looks like a rather nice car. Clearly not to everyone's taste but if you're not interested then it's not for you. Golf R or T-Roc R? Different car for different taste/use/lifestyle. Price complaints? Which car is not overpriced these days?

I think there's a fair few loud intolerant people here. If it's not rear-wheel drive, with at least cylinders, naturally-aspirated, and a manual gearbox then it offends them, and must be shouted down, because that's what they have/want, and anyone who doesn't have the same needs/desires is WRONG.Sporky said:

Unless it's a personal choice/taste thing, but as a fellow kayaker, I cannot see one thing about this T-Roc which is more advantageous over a Golf R Estate, in fact - quite the opposite. Lower roof to lift kayak on to, Longer roof for better balance of longer kayaks, bigger boot for more gear and equipment...... and cheaper too? If I was in the market, would have to be the Estate over SUV/Crossover all day long for me - but then again, I am old!
Interesting point. When actually doing outdoorsy lifestyle activities with a crossover/suv, the difficulty of actually getting stuff on the roof compared to a normal car soon becomes apparent. I was mountain biking a couple of weeks ago parked next to a guy struggling to lift 3 heavy muddy bikes onto the roof of an F Pace, he had the back doors open, and was trying to balance half standing on the back seats so he could reach! Ahh man, that vision is running through my head and is making me wince! I have a couple of bikes as well, and even though my TT bike is only about 8 or 9kg, the thought of having to lift the b@stard on to the roof of an F-Pace (and the subsequent grief of strapping it down) after a Tri: the thing may as well be 80 or 90kg! Another joy of having the old A6 Avant: I just throw the bugger in the back - wheels and all: no strapping - no worries! Arsecati said:

I have to use a stepladder to get the bikes on my estate car - it must be a huge PITA to do on something tall.

Same, I fit x2 enduro bikes standing up in the back of the Karoq with the front wheels off. The dropper secures them on the ceiling at the press of a lever. Impossible to achieve that in an estate. So what won't work for kayaking might be the ideal solution for cycling or vice versa. I am glad there is a choice. nickfrog said:
