So many negative comments which I am struggling to justify. Consumers want choice and this looks like a rather nice car. Clearly not to everyone's taste but if you're not interested then it's not for you. Golf R or T-Roc R? Different car for different taste/use/lifestyle. Price complaints? Which car is not overpriced these days?

Could have been worse, Andy didn't make usual appearance saving us a couple of pages of crap.

I think there's a fair few loud intolerant people here. If it's not rear-wheel drive, with at least cylinders, naturally-aspirated, and a manual gearbox then it offends them, and must be shouted down, because that's what they have/want, and anyone who doesn't have the same needs/desires is WRONG.

+1 not everyone wants the same or has the same lifestyle

Yeah, but 20 year old 5 Series estate - in silver.

Not to mention beam axles, farmers and metal front bumpers.

The possessive singular apostrophe was in 'Buttertub's', rightly or wrongly. Meaning the pass belongs to, or is in some way associated with Buttertub.

So pass nothing.

Nice car. Great to have choices. Especially fast ones.

Not really my cup of tea, but it doesn’t really offend me in any way.

I’m sure VW will sell loads of them though because these quick SUV’s are very popular despite what many think on here.

Unless it's a personal choice/taste thing, but as a fellow kayaker, I cannot see one thing about this T-Roc which is more advantageous over a Golf R Estate, in fact - quite the opposite. Lower roof to lift kayak on to, Longer roof for better balance of longer kayaks, bigger boot for more gear and equipment...... and cheaper too? If I was in the market, would have to be the Estate over SUV/Crossover all day long for me - but then again, I am old! wink
Interesting point. When actually doing outdoorsy lifestyle activities with a crossover/suv, the difficulty of actually getting stuff on the roof compared to a normal car soon becomes apparent. I was mountain biking a couple of weeks ago parked next to a guy struggling to lift 3 heavy muddy bikes onto the roof of an F Pace, he had the back doors open, and was trying to balance half standing on the back seats so he could reach!

Ahh man, that vision is running through my head and is making me wince! I have a couple of bikes as well, and even though my TT bike is only about 8 or 9kg, the thought of having to lift the b@stard on to the roof of an F-Pace (and the subsequent grief of strapping it down) after a Tri: the thing may as well be 80 or 90kg! Another joy of having the old A6 Avant: I just throw the bugger in the back - wheels and all: no strapping - no worries! wink

I have to use a stepladder to get the bikes on my estate car - it must be a huge PITA to do on something tall.

Surely with the higher centre of gravity you just take a corner too fast and roll the thing? Piece of cake to get the bike on the roof once the car's on its side.

Same, I fit x2 enduro bikes standing up in the back of the Karoq with the front wheels off. The dropper secures them on the ceiling at the press of a lever. Impossible to achieve that in an estate. So what won't work for kayaking might be the ideal solution for cycling or vice versa. I am glad there is a choice.

Some of us also don’t want the dirt inside the car!

A good point. I have a portable low pressure jet wash too, always simpler to remove the mud while it's fresh anyway. I also use a plastic cover so the interior doesn't suffer at all.

A fast SUV with more ground clearance than an estate is perfect, my FSTIs ground clearance is a massive plus over an estate for me. Can park anywhere when walking the dogs or parking near the bottom of mountains. Nice we have choices for everyone.

I'm gonna dig this back up. The Audi SQ2 at 6 months old seems to be on sale for around £28 to £29k with minimal miles the TRoc a few thousands more.

I like the understated SQ2 but they seem to be not selling.

For the ones that do sell what discounts are likely?

Seems to be cheaper on lease if that helps it become more attractive ?
