Congratulations Dan, I’m very much looking forward to reading your future stories about your Alpine A110.
My Alpine A110S is due in at Southampton on 28th October, starting to get a little excited now. I ordered mine with the carbon roof, so IMO, the colour had to be iridescent white with orange brake calipers and trim.
Great spec and bet you can't wait. Keen to hear your thoughts on the S on the road.My Alpine A110S is due in at Southampton on 28th October, starting to get a little excited now. I ordered mine with the carbon roof, so IMO, the colour had to be iridescent white with orange brake calipers and trim.

The one I drove on standard brakes felt perfectly acceptable and I came away thinking the brake kit would be unnecessary overkill, probably even for simple track days, when I think a more aggressive pad and some decent fluid will do the trick....
Interesting. One of the things I like about the big brakes is that they are heavier than is normal these days. Not such a big deal with an auto gearbox - but many are too light to heel and toe easily. However it's still easier to modulate the brakes even in an auto - particularly if you LFB. Did you have the chance to compare both brakes?unsprung said:
Those here who've wondered aloud about more strident or retro-inspired colours are on to something. The size and particular lines of the A110 are ideally suited to some colours that we know from the 1960s and 1970s.
One must concede that, at the moment, it may make commercial sense for Alpine to offer only the handful of sensible colours that it has --- more than half either black or a form of grey alongside two whites and a clear blue. Greater simplicity. Lower overheads. Perhaps better, or at least more predictable, resale value. And so on.
It would nevertheless be interesting to imagine the A110 in a version of some of these:
Note: I am not suggesting that each and every colour, above, is suited to the A110. But you get the point.

Many of those are charming and just the sort of colour to adorn a neoclassical sports car, like the A110, as it runs along the hedge rows.In addition to those swatches, it could be fun to see what sort of "Groovy, Baby!" colours were splashed upon less traditional motors in the ten years after that chart -- from '68 onward.

Nice - did you get a chance to try the A110S before ordering, and if so, did you compare it with the standard A110?
No it was not possible to try the A110S because it was not available at the time of ordering, however I did test the non S version and I knew that the S was going to be better for my style of driving, and it has a bigger turbo, ie I like doing track days.100 OCTANE said:
